Hey y'all, don't post much but this 1z is kicking my ass. I'm in need of someone who is vastly knowledgeable around the early TDIs. Preferably to establish an open line of communication so I can run things by you and pick your brain.

Thanks, Tyler

Post your questions in this subforum:

Why post in forum instead of "open line of communication" with one person?
1. Lots of folks here have real jobs and don't want this forum to be another.
2. Your problem is probably going to be applicable to someone else.
3. More viewers = more knowledge to be shared.

As above. The MkIII-A3/B4 sub-forum is the best place. Many, many knowledgable folks there. If you need to have someone work on your car, there is a Guru not too far you (or used to be he may have fully retired. But, if you are simply asking questions; Search first then ask.

Thanks for y'all's input. I'm capable of working on the car myself and I've scoured the forums and other Internet realms. I've also tried just about everything with the car. This is why I've broken down and actually asked for someone (hopefully) smarter than me... Or at least with more knowledge, to talk to. I will repost under B4.

Thanks, Tyler

It's a LOT to type.
It usually is. Please consider that many Guru's here are professional mechanics. Their time has value. It is unfair to expect them to put free time & effort into assisting in solving a problem when the owner is unwilling to put in effort. The greater detail, back ground, mods, changes, recent work, history, etc on a given question, they better the responses typically are.

Go see Tom Earl in Stafford VA. He's on the trusted mechanics list: PM me if you can't find his info. He knows B4s inside and out.

I was a professional mechanic myself before I was paralyzed from a stroke. I understand this.

Sorry to read of your stroke. From reading your quality post in the B4 forum, it reads that you are competent with a wrench. Hopefully, you will get the needed answers there. Most of those guys on that sub-forum qualify as Gurus, even if they do not claim the title. Peter is correct on Tom Earl if your car needs to go to someone (he is the person I was referring to. A few years ago, he scrubbed his phone number from various sites as he was bombarded & overloaded with nuisance calls. BTW, Welcome to Fred's, it reads that you will be a quality contributor.

Individualized guru help warrants monetary compensation. The forum is so others can benefit from your dilemma. Personally, I can't stand when folks message me for "personal" help when their questions can easily be answered in a forum setting.
I have no problem paying someone who can actually help me. Personally, I have absolutely scoured the Internet before asking for help. I'm not incompetent by any stretch of the word. Thanks for the input though.

When the vwdieselparts.com forum was going strong,
I had people sending me texts and asking me questions, instead of asking on the forum.
Like I was supposed to be their free personal consultant.
And spend my time typing a bunch of stuff no one else on the forum could even see or benefit from.

^ ^ ^ 3x. :)

When I have time I respectfully ask them to turn their note into a post for all, to help elicit a wide range of responses (what the hell do I know anyways) and so that answer(s) benefit the entire community.

I know several Gurus that scrubbed their digital presence to remove phone numbers & locations for similar reasons.
