I'm not going to trust the software update to do anything that I would like. I think it would lower milage, lower performance or both. My state doesn't do emission testing so I have no need to screw up how the car(s) drives.

In Europe, if your car goes to a VW dealer, "the fix" will be applied whether you want it or not and it will not be reversed even if you didn't realise this, didn't want it, don't like what happens next [see below], and subsequently complain.

On the 2.0 Tdi there are now reports of poorer performance with distinct hesitations, worse fuel consumption, much noisier engines, exhaust vibrations, and, on autos, earlier and inappropriate engagement of higher gears at too low revs.

So, if "the fix" comes to a VW dealer near you, find a good independent and stay out of the clutches [sorry, couldn't resist it!] of your "friendly" VW dealer at all costs!

I know. There is a pressure sensor recall for the 09. Deal replaced the sensor, but the ECU upgrade didn't work. New sensors fails, and then they gave me a bill, for the new sensor and the ECU upgrade.

So avoiding the dealer/stealer is a must.

Sorry but any "reports" of anything about 2.0L fixes are bs. No fix has been approve or installed.
