Put a deposit down on a Mazda CX-9 GT, thank you VW for the deposit (VW goodwill cards provided a $800 deposit). Dealer is also a VW dealer so I will turn in car and pickup new one at the same time.

Picked up a Mazda6 GT with premium package. Really liking it so far. It was between that and a Subaru Outback. Outback would have been more practical but just couldn't deal with the CVT and zero power.
Is it a 2016.5? I think the Preium package was discontinued for 2017. My wife's first choice is a Mazda 6. They are a nice machine.

2017. Called the grand touring premium package. Definitely not a necessity but very nice.

Clue me in. All I see on the Mazda site as an add on is the GT package. It includes the i.e. Loop regenerative braking, active grill shutters and Nappa leather plus a couple of others. Thanks!

I think we are talking about the same package. When I go to the Mazda website and select build, I pick the 2017 model, GT trim and then it takes you to color choices. After that, you add packages. for the GT there is only one, the GT premium package. You get the following:

i-ELOOP regenerative engine braking system
Active Grille Shutters
Heated rear seats
Heated steering wheel with unique stitching
Black headliner
Nappa leather-trimmed Sport seats
Bright finish power seat switches and glove compartment knob
LED accent lighting for shifter area

Either people are flush with cash including their anticipated buyout payments, or they're willing to sign up for loans for replacement vehicles. Folks are buying some pretty expensive hardware.

Since I was not looking to get rid of my 2011 Golf TDI before Dieselgate, I really did not want a car payment, thus I bought a 2016 Jetta for $500 over my buyback amount. Now I wanted a new Corvette, but...

It's not, so the members should size them properly. This is not anything new here.
I've been meaning to look up how to do that, but honestly it's not obvious with google photos how to do it...

Well, it's 2016 now. Maybe it's time to upgrade to a newer version of vBulletin or at least install a plugin that will handle automatic image resizing.
That'd be sweet!

I guess people are suddenly rich or love car payments? I don't understand it. I plan to have money left over when I buy my year old replacement and no car payment.

I would say that I classify as neither, but I did just sign a deal for a new Alltrack SEL. I'm going to get ~20K for a down payment and adding in a little more of my own have a loan for around 10K. I'll have the loan paid in 2-3 yrs. So, it's (in my case) easy to accept the debt for a much newer and nicer/better equipped car. I just got an email saying that they will have my car tomorrow. If only VW would send me an email saying that my notarized offer is validated it would all be perfect.

It looks like the incentives we can get on a new Silverado would be the cost of a used one so might as well buy new. With the Wrangler Unlimited, the 2017 has new led headlights and supposedly the seats are more comfortable, plus I don't want a used 4WD. I use to off road back in 80's and I've seen what people do, I don't want their oopps. My work goal is not to have the payments very long.

CT-Man those new Vette's are sweet! We have a 69 and in June went to the Vette museum and did the GM plant tour in Bowing Green, pretty awesome!

Similar situation. Going to get 8k from VW and adding in a bit of my own, I get a monthly payment roughly 200 bucks less a month than I am paying now. I pulled the trigger because my TDI has 4 bald tires so I parked it in my driveweay.

I'm giving up on getting a plug in hybrid like I wanted since the selection available just doesn't suit what we want/like/need. I decided to look for a used car that I can snag up at a good deal so that in a year or so, we can sell without losing too much value and lease a new plug in hybrid

For my wife and I, I graduated from college (Electrical Engineering) In June and we wanted something different, in honesty, its a $150 a month difference. So figure our income more than doubled since we bought the TDi.

This thread begins to show what VW lost, when screwing around with a lower priced car turns off people whose incomes grow. If they really want to bash their heads against the wall, they should tap registration data and witness the brand shift across families. I feel fortunate being able to conduct a changeover.

Was supposed to get a GTI by the end of the month, and even put a deposit down... But I will be picking up the deposit today as I still do not have an offer and at this point there is no way I will have my buyback date scheduled before the end of the month.

I was ok with having 2 cars for a known amount of time that was less than a month, but at this point I don't expect to get out of my TDI before the end of the year! We shall see if I still get a GTI when the time comes, i'm not swearing off VW, but....

The "green" angle VW took when marketing their new TDI caused a different crowd to go diesel. These folks were not looking for a cheap economy car. They wanted something with good mileage that was more fun than a hybrid.

Not in that ball park. For the Golf, I'm taking the money and paying off some debts. For the JSW, the jury is going to take at least 18 months to come back in.

I think this has always been true. I traded an Audi A4 for my Jetta Wagon.

Similar here too. GEtting 11K for my car, putting most of it down on an Alltrack SE 6MT (ordered), saving a little, and I'll have a smaller payment than I do now. My credit has also gone up quite a bit since I bought my car, which may be another one of those unseen factors in people's car choices, so I'll be getting a good interest rate.
