Acura - quality, reliability and everything VW isn't and will never be.
If they still made the wagon I would have taken a look at them. But it seems to be me Acura's are just Honda models re-badged that are priced higher. Why not just get the Honda and save money?
About two years ago, I gave up my '05 Subaru Legacy wagon for a CPO '13 Acura TSX wagon with 8,000 miles on it.
The Acura reminded me of my mother-in-law's Honda Civic. It sounded whiny. The shifting was notchy. It was a boring drive.
The tech in this car was awful! Here was this well executed, deeply inset screen all but impervious to sunlight glare, and it's crippled with a 16 character DOS-like display with scrolling ID3 tag info.
If you drive it into an underpass and the daylight sensor turns the headlights on, the whole dash and radio dim to an unreadable level (unless it's actually nighttime-dark); unlike the Subaru there's no "all bright" button
It had a couple of other quirks that drove me nuts. There was a Bluetooth problem, I can't recall the specifics.
I just kept telling myself to live with it, it's a dependable car that'll last forever, get over it. After six months, I gave in. I drove it to a local Acura dealer, showed him my CPO paperwork and service paperwork, and sold it to him. I walked a couple of blocks over to the Audi dealership and hopped into a CPO '13 Allroad. Never looked back.
And by the way, yes, there was a nearly identical Accord wagon being sold in Europe. I recall an owner -- must have seen it on an Acura forum -- who "rebadged" his TSX with overseas parts.
Edit: to be fair, this was one guy's experience with one particular Acura model, and the lineup has clearly evolved since 2013. I'm not the type to say "never Honda again." Just sharing my observations.
