They are not "dealing" on the Alltrack at all
Interesting.

I have not looked at the details but based on radio ads here in SLC, one dealer is "starting" the Alltrack at $239xx.

Looking at their website the Alltrack TSi is $23900 or $23997 depending on which one and the three AllTrack SE are $27,253. Since I am not looking I have not spoken with them.

Both the dealers in the SL Valley run aggressive radio ads and have been aggressive in their prices.

Acura - quality, reliability and everything VW isn't and will never be.
If they still made the wagon I would have taken a look at them. But it seems to be me Acura's are just Honda models re-badged that are priced higher. Why not just get the Honda and save money?

I looked at Accords at the car show. They were all pretty boring had ugly interiors and generic exteriors. I don't think they sell to well except the re-badged Honda Pilot. Acura is just a brand sold in America. Where people care about brand over substance. They will pay more for a Honda if it has an Acura symbol here. Lexus does the same thing. Rebadges a Toyota Camry as a Lexus EX 300. Charges 15k more for it. And people pay it.

Put a "hold" on a 2016 Chevrolet Volt an hour ago to replace our 2010 Jetta TDI (sold back on 12/08/2016). Sorry to see it go.

So simply rebadging an Accord to say RLX adds 5 inches to its wheelbase? Merely replacing an Accord badge with a TLX badge adds 2 inches to the wheelbase?

Accords don't sell well? For 2015 it was the third best selling car (not trucks or SUVs) in America, behind the Camry and Corolla. Honda sold about as many Accords in the US in 2015 (355k) as VW sold total vehicles for that year..

I don't think the Pilot is a rebadge any more, but I don't feel like researching it.

I meant to say Acuras don't sell well. You are America focused. I know a lot of American's love Camry's and Accords. I know that those vehicles do terribly in Europe. I didn't see any on the autobahn. In fact the only Japanese cars I saw on the Autobahn were driving slowly and never moved out of the right lane. I saw plenty of VW's in the left lane doing over 200 KPH.

In fact Honda gave up selling the Accord in Europe because Europeans care about performance and don't just want to overpay for a Honda. They don't sell Acura in Europe either. VW sells a lot more Jettas in China than Honda sells Accords there.

About two years ago, I gave up my '05 Subaru Legacy wagon for a CPO '13 Acura TSX wagon with 8,000 miles on it.

The Acura reminded me of my mother-in-law's Honda Civic. It sounded whiny. The shifting was notchy. It was a boring drive.

The tech in this car was awful! Here was this well executed, deeply inset screen all but impervious to sunlight glare, and it's crippled with a 16 character DOS-like display with scrolling ID3 tag info.

If you drive it into an underpass and the daylight sensor turns the headlights on, the whole dash and radio dim to an unreadable level (unless it's actually nighttime-dark); unlike the Subaru there's no "all bright" button

It had a couple of other quirks that drove me nuts. There was a Bluetooth problem, I can't recall the specifics.

I just kept telling myself to live with it, it's a dependable car that'll last forever, get over it. After six months, I gave in. I drove it to a local Acura dealer, showed him my CPO paperwork and service paperwork, and sold it to him. I walked a couple of blocks over to the Audi dealership and hopped into a CPO '13 Allroad. Never looked back.

And by the way, yes, there was a nearly identical Accord wagon being sold in Europe. I recall an owner -- must have seen it on an Acura forum -- who "rebadged" his TSX with overseas parts.

Edit: to be fair, this was one guy's experience with one particular Acura model, and the lineup has clearly evolved since 2013. I'm not the type to say "never Honda again." Just sharing my observations.

It's common knowledge that the TSX and TSX Sport Wagon were European Accords that were "federalized" for sale in the US.

I wasn't as much concerned with the "Honda/Acura" part of it as I was the "wagon." It was a nice looking car regardless of whose badge was on it, not quite as utilitarian as the Legacy, but more wagon than either the V60 or the Allroad. You could say it was a wagon before its time, before the tech was ready for it.

OK. Acuras don't sell well in the US (177k units in 2015). The vaunted Audi brand doesn't sell a whole lot better in the US: 202k units in 2015.

Yes, I'm "America focused." That's where I live, where I buy cars, and where I drive them. Most of the members on this board are in North America. Many of us don't give a rat's patoot what sells or doesn't sell in Europe, Japan, or China. If we can't buy it here, it doesn't mean much to us.

As for Acuras being rebadged Hondas, which Honda model corresponds to the NSX in the US? Which Honda model with a 112" wheelbase is rebadged as the RLX?

The Accura RLX is rebadged Honda Legend.

As for the Acura NSX I would say that is an Acura original. How many do they sell of those a year? 3?

OK. So buyers of the RLX in the US are not simpy "brand buyers" as you suggested, since they cannot buy a Honda Legend in the US. The Accord is pretty much the top of the line car for the Honda brand in the US. In the US, Acura offers products that aren't offered under the Honda label in the US.

Didn't I read somewhere that the 2014+ Honda Legend is only sold as a hybrid? Making the RLX a bit more than rebadging, in my opinion.

Your original point, on a largely North American forum, was that Acura buyers were duped because they could buy a comparable Honda branded model for a lot less. Yet we are now discussing the equivalency of a US Acura model with a Honda model not sold in the US. And nobody outside the US can buy an Acura.

Well, when I lived in Germany you saw Japanese cars. A good friend of mine had a Mitsubishi Gallant and a Toyota Previa van. He drove the Mitsubishi fast too.

But darn, you are right, Honda hardly sells anything in Germany:

https://www.statista.com/statistics/415102/honda-car-sales-in-germany/

Toyota does a bit better by about a factor of 3

https://www.statista.com/statistics/415020/toyota-car-sales-in-germany/

But VW, which has almost no market share in the US, sells as many cars in a month approximately, across all marks, as Toyota does in Germany in a year.

19.08 MPG in the new Ram, lol. For a full-size truck in a $h11ty commute though, that's not bad. The economy mode (cylinder deactivation) really seems to work.A tank of fuel did get me through a full week of commuting though...and that's all I was hoping for (a full week commute out of a tank of fuel and ~19 MPG).

They are not "dealing" on the Alltrack at all. The subie has a higher MSRP but the dealer dropped more than 10% from the get-go to start off. I bought the 2.5 which is 175 hp. So that is what I would consider equivalent to the Alltrack SEL. I would have loved to get the 3.6R. That combination of engine and High Torque CVT is awesome!
All in all I did pay less for the Touring Outback than I would have paid for the Alltrack SEL even with VW 'a retention bonus.
My local dealer offered a fair amount off the Alltrack when I was in this week.

I took a look as they had just sold the R I came in to check out.

. I think you actually get a better warranty buying CPO than buying new.

That's definitely something to investigate when shopping for a CPO, because date of the original sale and mileage can come into play, depending on the manufacturer.

The Lexus CPO I just bought adds two years and unlimited miles to the end of the original warranty period. It was first registered November 2014 and has less than 5k miles on the odo, so my basic warranty will extend through October 2020. That pretty much matches a new car. They give two years free scheduled maintenance also.

So in my case, it actually works out pretty good, but if it were high mileage or a year older, the CPO warranty would be less than a new warranty.

Ha! It's a sweet Ram though. :D I had the same conversation with my husband about his new Silverado, ha! But he is loving it, me too.

I'm following my Wrangler build and it's just been released by the plant, I'm besides myself! Although I thought it would arrive after our buyback on 2/2 and now it looks like it will arrive prior.

Don't be surprised if you have issues with the quality control. Leaks. And horrible MPG depending if you mod your jeep.
I have a Wrangler '14 rubicon X loaded hardtop. 2.5" lift on stock MW3 stock oem wheels and with 33-34" Duratrac tires (these aren't noisy). Average 14 mpg city. Maximum 21-22 drafting full tank a fuel behind RV going 60. 6 speed manual. Refilling every 200 miles. No way I could go back to those for the miles I drive monthly. Granted jeeps have other qualities.

Great car. I love MB, they used quality parts, but it's included to cost of maintain them, if it breaks

I got ML350 BlueTec, it's very quality made cars. I don't even expect they are so nice to drive and pleasant interior.

Turning my car in this Saturday on the 14th.

Pulled the trigger today on a mint 2006 Mercedes Benz S65 AMG with 54k miles.

Yup. I'm enjoying it. I got to do truck stuff today. I left this morning with clean shovels, rakes, and a pick axe. I came home with filthy/muddy equipment and a dirty truck (I just washed it yesterday, too ). It was a fun day though.:D

Good luck with the Wrangler...whenever that comes in. I had one years ago. It was a blast.

To clarify a small detail...... I purchased the Outback in the second week of November when the Alltrack was scarce. Also I live in the Chicago market and November is the beginning of the 4wd season. The comparable Alltrack SEL also had the lighting and driver assistance package..

I ordered an Unlimited Sahara hardtop. Yes, prepared to watch for leaks. My 86 Camaro had t-tops so I've fought leaks before. Nothing like getting in your car and the front passenger foot space had about a foot deep with water. I believe it's about the same fuel mileage as my little Blazer was. Right now my mod's consist of Jeep coasters for the cup holders, sunglasses holder, license plate frame, locking gas cap, hood lock and apparel, LOL. I love the masculinity to it, all the SUV's now all look the same to me and some verging on mini van status, oh hell no! That's why I liked my Blazer, it still had a truck look to it. Already planning off roading adventures. :D

As most here would attest, the TDI is a fun, economical and practical car. It's disturbing that corporate greed by a few is hurting life for so many. Anyway, paperwork done and approved, turn-in appointment is in a couple weeks. Adios, my friends.

I had a friend in college (long time ago) that drilled holes in his floor board and put plugs with pull cords in the holes. He used his Jeep for hunting and was always fording streams. When he hit dry ground, he could just pull the cord and drain the inside. He also had a small gas winch on the front bumper for when the stream was deeper than it looked.
