I am happy to announce that I am the happy owner of a Y2K Golf GLS TDI, automatic, Indigo Blue, Charcoal interior, sunroof and Monsoon stereo. It is a great addition to my VW stable. ('65 Bug, '66 Ghia, '67 Microbus) I just completed my 1000 mile break in and am starting to enjoy the full performance. The car is leased so I am not sure if I can do a Wett chip without warranty problems, but in any case the performance is great. My first official 0-60 was 10.25 which equals my old stock 1983 GTI that I had in high school, so who can complain. If anyone has a list of mods that I can do without warranty issues please post it in the performance section. I want to make this a Q-Car, high perfomance with bone stock looks. I am considering a Wett chip, stiffer sway bars and shocks, K&N filter and stickier 55 series tires. Anyway, I love the car and look forward to trading it in 4 years for a Passat wagon with V-6 TDI and 4-Motion. I will post pictures soon, because it looks so sweet with those factory alloys

drool! You got a Monsoon system in your TDI? How do you like the sound? Have you compared it to the standard stereo system? I have not yet seen any VW in Maryland, other than GLX-GTI come in with the Monsoon system yet.

If you want a Q-ship, without lease-related warranty or service issues, may I suggest a "tuning-box"? This is a device that plugs into the wiring harness, and fools the ECU into delivering more fuel and so more power than it otherwise would. These devices can be removed in minutes and require absolutely no modifications to your bone-stock car. The downside is that some of them have adjustments that require set-up time on a dynomometer to acheive optimum results, although there is at least one box that has no user adjustments at all. You can read of these on many threads in the "performance" section of these forums.
I just got my new Golf GLS-TDI last week (400 (s)miles so far), and I intend to try out one of these boxes after my car has had a good amount of break-in time and mileage, so I have no first-hand experience with these tuning boxes as yet. I agree that those are good-looking alloys. Well! I'll be off in my new car real soon!
Before I forget, Congratulations on your new Golf! I hope you get 4 years and more of pleasure and delight from this ride.
