I did the Mt. Charleston cruise today as part of Wüste today and I saw a very interesting TDI. I talked to the owner. It is a 2006 VW Caravelle with a 1.9L PD Blue Motion TDI (Blue "I" on the badge). He lives in Mexico City and he said that they sell this same van in Mexico but only as a commercial van. He said that he had to order it from Europe to get the "passenger" version with all the seats and dual sliding rear side doors (one on each side). He was traveling with a wife and three kids (I think, I might have missed one:rolleyes:).

Anyway, since the is the picture forum, here goes:

Sharp looking van! Hopefully he pops onto the forums.

Really nice, but I don't know that I can believe the 40+ MPG sticker, though. That thing is about as aerodynamic as a barn door.

The Bluemotion with the quite slow 84kW engine is 6,4l/100km (36mpg).
Highline with 132kW is 7,3 (32mpg), with 4Mo 7,9 (29mpg)
with 7-speed DSG it is 7,6 (31mpg), with 4Mo 8,3 (28mpg) (and a base price of 62.159,65 €, neat).
40mpg is quite hard to get, I guess, but can be possible, but never as an avarage over several tanks.

The one pictured is before the mid-cycle refresh... still has the 5-cylinder TDI.
Yeah... 40mpg? In his dreams. This thing dwarfs minivans.

It is really a pity that you cannot buy a "California" in California (or anywhere else in the US & Canada).
