Note:

I don't actually believe i'm an idiot, but i purchased a 2015 A3 TDI last night on carvana!

this is my first foray into deisel-land, but not my first VW. I've owned both a MKIV GTI and a MKV GLI.

I haven't recieved the car yet, but i'm excited! Any advice for a first timer would be great.

I got a DSG transmission tune on my 2012 A3.
Not cheap but I liked the improved shifting.

don't put gasoline in it.

and learn about Diesel Exhaust fluid. find the owners manual if it does not come with one.

I would get both a tune for both engine and Dsg

I've been pondering a dsg tune, but I honestly don't like riding stock tune in sport mode. I'm afraid the dsg tune might do just that.

Nope - DSG tune is way different than just sport mode.
Not sure how / what they (Malone) do, but my 2015 GSW now somehow shifts exactly when/where I want like 95% of the time. In sport mode, it was better than normal "D", but typically revved too long.

DSG tune is huge win; engine tune also good, but I only really notice that when I'm driving for fun, whereas the DSG tune I notice and appreciate every drive.

Yeah yeah. I don't like sport either. No matter how much I pussy the throttle it wants to wind out and hold the gear too long.

D is very conservative and shifts as soon as I needs when just lolling around flat roads, which I prefer.

I am concerned where malones tune in D actually lands, as I'm getting setup to tow a decent sized camper, roof racks, etc etc with my boys. So I wanted a quick and firm snap of clutch packs for longevity of friction discs, and if Malone changes Hydraulic clamp force in the dsg tune.

I plan to delete, tune, and tow. Park camper and scout, return to the sadness of reality.

Yeah - probably best to contact them; I don't know anything about the hydraulic clamping force. I just know it drives day-to-day much more better - no more going 35mph in 6th at 1100rpm or whatever...
