Humming or vibrating noise when AC is on

2013 Golf TDI with 160,000 km. The noise is most noticeable while I'm idling, but doesn't seem to go away while driving either. The humming stops maybe 5 seconds after I press the AC button to turn it off. What should I be looking for here?

Replace the ac filter if its been a while. Pull the blower and see if anything got sucked in. Check the blower for play while it's out.

2014 SW here that sat in CA for a while till I bought it. At some point on the way home I noticed a vibration when the fan was on that of course got worse on med and high. Found out how to pull the blower motor, very easy, only to find a good amount of dust/dirt had settled on just a few of the vanes. Cleaned that off, problem solved
