Guys I need your help! this is not my first rodeo on this whole cp4 fuel pump issue I have a 2014 sportwagon that I need a whole fuel system upgrade and cp3 retrofit so I am well aware of this cjaa issue. I picked up a 2010 sport wagon with 110k miles on it that the owner said she put gas in it, she had it taken to a repair shop and they drained it all out and it ran again for a while. She says it got harder and harder to start and then finally died and sat for 6 months, she got so tired of it that she decided to sell the car and cut her losses. Shops in the area quoted her a full fuel system replacement bla bla talk and said the fuel pump is shot!
I purchased the car and right away removed the metering valve and it was spotless no metal at all, same with the fuel filter housing. I replaced the fuel filter and went to crank it and had no start on it. I figured with no metal anywhere in the system the pump was still intact either it makes pressure or it does not correct? I have now purchased vcds software and hooked it up to see what codes were on the car, the only code I found was 000402 fuel pressure sensor {g247} P0192-000- short to GND so P0192 was the only code. I tried testing the fuel pressure sensor and could not a real reading so I went ahead and replaced it with a new one just to see. I tested the fuel pressure regulator on the other end with 12 volts and I got a clock and response. I also tested the metering valve on the pump and got a response when 12 volts was applied to it so I assume that means its in working order. I went through and tested both fuel pumps tan and inline and they both work great so there is no fuel lack there going to the pump. I tried cranking it over and have had the car start 3 times and idle fine and act normal for a while until you try and rev it up and back it down to idle again, at that point it falls below idle and pretty much stalls and throws the same single code again p0192.
the elephant in the room is what pressure is the injection pump putting to the rail and is it compromised or not? I don't know how I could get it to start a time or two and at the same time the pump be bad? also I am having a hard time in vcds finding the right group to show realtime rail pressure when its cranking to see exactly what that pump is doing. I really need to rule out is this pump messed up from when she put fuel in it and that's why it got harder and harder for her to start it, or do we have a sensor issue or electrical wiring issue on a sensor that is giving faulty reading to the sensors for pressure? On measuring blocks group 20 I was seeing 352 bar high pressure specified and 352 bar actual sitting on the rail after cranking.... is that normal? I would assume that would pop off no problem if that was the actual pressure, or is it not really? I don't have a pressure gauge to manually read the high pressure side to verify without a doubt that this pump is making enough pressure to start this car. If I could do that then it would be one of 2 sensors causing this issue. group 21 said same on the pressure and group 19 cranking realtime showed high pressure control deviation of -2.55 and high pressure specified 448 bar. I just don't get it! why is this car not starting all the time?! and why is it so hard to verify that this pump is putting correct pressure out when cranking? What am I missing?! and what area do I need to go to in vcds to get the correct information that I need to find this answer out? If I can just verify those few things I can purchase the pump and slap it on or sensors on and be done! Sorry for an all over the place page here just trying to explain what's been done up until now and kinda what to check from here on out. I really need help looking at the right banks of vcds to get the info I need to proceed. Please give me some of your ideas or knowledge and help me with this car problem!
