HPFP Codes P0087 and P053F

I am hoping someone can give me some guidance on this low fuel pressure code.

History
I started getting this code back in May 2021 (roughly 120k miles on the car). We purchased the car with around 106k miles on it. Usually happens at start up and lately the stumbling at idle will be bad enough the car dies. Once you are driving it has never had any issues and drives great. I changed the fuel filter at the time it first happened and the problem went away. The problem reappeared and so I changed filter again about a year later (another 17k miles driven). IIRC I didn't have any issues until another 18K miles. Since then the problem is happening more and more. In looking at the data for the HPFP the actual was seesawing above and below the specified. I eventually took the car to a mechanic and his thought was that since it was happening in the morning that fuel was leaking back and suggested the fuel pressure regulator. I replaced it and you can see in the data how the fuel pressure was right near specified (link to thread on Ross Tech's forum...post number 26). I thought the problem was solved until it came back five day later. The injector quantity deviation for each injector seems to be fine and I not getting any contribution faults. Car has no problem starting.

What I have tried
Since the code came back I tested the low pressure pump and it puts out enough fuel and holds pressure when off. So, it seems to be fine. I replaced the battery as someone had that be an issue for them. Nothing. I then purchased a cap for the fuel rail and began capping off one cylinder at a time. Each time I have watched the HPFP on VCDS to see if the seesawing would smooth out. Nothing came back from trying that. So I then pulled the fuel metering valve it was clean of debris (thankfully). I have also replaced the fuel pressure sensor just to rule that out.



So I am bit at a loss as to where to go from here. I do notice that it does seem audible with the fuel pressure is seesawing.

I have had some other weird codes like EGR temp sensor, coolant valve and EGR Cooler Bypass Control Circuit. I replaced the all of the EGR stuff and coolant valve items about 2 years ago when I was having slow coolant leak issue. Any chance I could be having an ECU issue?

Update: I sent the injectors and pump out for testing. Injectors showed signs of wear which is what you expect for 160k on them. The pump was dead and wasn't making fuel pressure on the test bench.
