Amd is the best,

What kind of wiring harness did you use for the fog lights? I have the ECS one, but it of course doesn't interface with the CECM. Did you get an OEM one or modify and ECS one?

Already got one and installed it. Even got the led tails installed and working, they throw a left and right parking light code though. Just waiting on the wiring harness for the fogs. I have an ECS one, but I'd rather have them connect to the ECM than be powered by a relay. I ordered one from OEMplus over a month ago and it finally shipped after many emails and phone calls. I don't think I'll be ordering anything from them again, but that's another story.

I used the ECS harness and used butt connectors to the repair wires I listed on the last page of the above link

What is the part number of your highline CECM, if you have the 5K0-937-087-G-Z5Y, then error codes are expected unless someone is able to get rid of them through some genius work, I'd be interested in knowing how.

the Highline CECM that works properly is 5K0-937-087-C-Z0X (for auto transmission and -ZOV is for the manual), I have that installed on my 2010 Jetta Sedan and installed the OEM Bi-Xenons + rear LED Tails with Fog, everything is working as expected including shutters in the HIDs and Rear Fog, I am using "0E" for byte 18, if you don't plan to use rear fog, then "06" for Byte 18 should work for you.

Yea, it's the G-Z5Y. Unfortunately by the time I ordered it the C-Z0X had been superseded and I couldn't find one. One would think that since it's newer it would have more compatibility. Oh well. I don't have, Bi-Xenons, but I do have front frogs and the led tails with rear fog. 0E is my byte 18 as well.

Where you bought your
Xenon/HID Headlights

I got a set of HID's and I wonder where to get the adapters TMTuning or Kufatec?

I'm planning to install the HID's without the High CECM right now, I'm getting the Highline module from a 09 GLI (junk yard) and the fogs later.

I have a question, where to get the wire for the shutter ? any part number or I'm blind or I could see it anywhere. Thanks for the info.

For those who installed the LED tails and have the bulb indicator light for rear parking lights, have you been able to successfully use resistors to kill the light?

The whole no cold diagnostics in the cecm really bugs me. I've tried resistors every way I could think of. Just looking for advice . . .

I'm not much of an electrician so I've just been living with the caution light. I figure eventually someone might eventually figure out the codes, but until then I'm happy as long as they work.

Has anyone tried wiring the Bi-Xenon high-beam shutter trigger wires to the high-beam headlight wire isolated with a relay and/or diode. If it is indeed 12V triggered as Nick posted above it seems as though this would be a great solution for those who do not have the correct CECM in thier car already. This is what I think I will do with my car when I install the HIDs I got from Bora Parts (Aaron aka Bleached Bora). What do you guys think? Will this cause any problems you can think of???

Also rather than build adaptor harnesses what about using the 12-pin plug and removing the wires and pins from the 10-pin harness and repinning them into the 12-pin plug. That way there wont be extra slack of wire and an additional place for a voltage drop. This seems like the better method to me. What do you guys think???

I plan to do the swap very soon so any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks,
Chris

I got everything done just to find out that the repair wire was missing bummer

I hope Ican get some help from you guys

Euro Switch for the Bi-Xenon/Rear Fog Setup

So the switch used in the thread top .pdf uses the Euro switch part number 3C8941431QXSH.

Will the switch with the coming home feature (1K0941431N)
work with this setup (Bi-Xenons, front & rear fog) and is the upgraded CECM what enables that feature along with the switch?

TIA for any help!

Im not sure about the home option on the auto switch, I got a non-auto switch and the bi-xenon.

Here is a photo from my iphone.

Chris, I think this is a great method... Anyone have the part number for the 12-pin OEM harness connector (as supplied on vehicle with Bi-Xenons)?

Anyone have issues passing state inspection with only one back-up light functioning (when you wire up the rear fog)??
Thx...

Ed, I believe the correct part number for the 12-pin housings is 1J0-941-165. This is just the connector, you will need two of them as well as several jumper wire connectors and such to do it correctly. I haven't done mine yet so I can't be positive on all the wires needed, but I hope to do it soon and then I'll know exactly what is needed.

Hope this helps.

My recommendation:

If you are replacing halogens and installing xenons, it is better to buy pre assembled 10 to 12 pin connectors, they will cost you less when you add the costs and your time and they will be of better quality.

You can buy them from:
Maloosheck on this forum or ecs tuning or tmtuning, etc.

I will admit that $18 is a lot to pay for a connector body but I beg to differ that the additional connection points will be more reliable, no matter how well they are built. I also would like to avoid the extra bulk of the additional connector and cable.

Awesome Chris! Thanks. I look forward to your report. Since my holidays are pretty tied up and I'm already behind on some car projects, I'm not in any particular hurry unfortunately

My recommendation was based on what I did and some guidance info from this thread when I installed mine:

http://www.myturbodiesel.com/1000q/a5/HID-retrofit-Jetta-a5.htm

All parts are listed there in case you build yours and need part numbers.

And don't forget the two extra wires that you will need for the shutter (if you are planning to install them the OEM way and get the bi-xenon functionality)

Keep in mind you will not be able to put back halogens in there without replacing the connector if for some reason you need to that in the future.

Thanks for the link digitalextremes! Between that thread and the PDf link that "Amd is the best" provided at the top of this thread, I should be good to go when ready. :)

Good luck

One last thing: don't over tighten any screws on the bumper and the grill, I learned the hard way and ruined a couple on the front grille.

I did this swap last Christmas and love my xenons! I haven't connected the extra wire to enable the bixenon functionality yet, I'm just using the separate halogens bulbs for the highs.
I purchased my headlight housing from a guy on this forum (skateboy___great guy). And later purchased 4300K d2S bulbs from the retrofit source (great group to work with )

Great write up man! I also used the 10-12 pin adapter as it made the job a lot easier. The adapter are fairly small and don't take up much space.
I did everything myself, removing the bumper, headlights, installing the new bulbs, igniters, and ballast, and making sure the light cut off was level. I had a local guy help me with the vag com coding.
If you take your time, it's very doable! If it's your first time doing this stuff, just plan a Saturday morning working on it, then wait with great anticipation for the sun to go down!!!

Good luck to all who may attempt this mod. It's a little pricey, but worth it. Get the true OEM stuff. I can also help if anyone needs it. I wish I knew how to post pics on here :)

I have a Jetta TDI CUP Edition, 6 speed manuel and was curious if anyone has tried adding Bi-Xenons to the 6 speed manuel? Would the coding be different or what all might change?

Headlight coding has no relationship to the tranny.

If you need to buy a highline cecm (you don't have the bi xenon pins on the lowline cecm) then you do need to make sure you are either buying the one made for auto or manual tranny or the one that works with both trannys.
