I'm trying to get some info on the tune on my 2011 Jetta. There are several possible ECUs for these Jettas and I haven't been able to figure out which one I have.

I've looked in VCDS for ECU info. Here's what I found.

From this, "Control Module Part Number: 03L 997 030 Q" I did a web search and found results, but nothing that matched anything on this list, which are the Jetta ECU options from the MPPS program:

Any pointers? Thanks.

It's an edc17cp14 ecu. Not sure what you're looking to do but there are many hours of reading you can do about them with some googling. Nothing out there for easy, cost effective self tuning/ flashing like the old edc15 ecus that I'm aware of.

Thanks. For my understanding, where do you find this info?

I've picked up this car recently and what I primarily want to do is find out what kind of a tune it has, so the 1st thing I want to do is read the program. I'm a long way off from self-tuning, but I'd love to get there. Sorry to hear about the lack of info/resources relatively speaking between mk4 & mk6. No surprise though.

EDIT: I replied before checking the list I'd pasted above. EDC17CP14 is not specifically listed. I'd guess it would fall under the generic ALL BOSCH EDC17 X category, but I'm not going to guess at this point. There is also the UDS & CAN variations even with it narrowed down to that option.

How do I find out these details?

Thing is, it's got a tune, I just don't know what it is. That's what I'm trying to find out. I've got an MPPS V18 and just want to read at this point. I don't know which ECU to select in the program options.

If you are just trying to read the ECU using a tunning box, then you won't break anything by selecting the wrong choice, I'm almost sure. In my mk4 if I make the wrong selection, then the box just throws an error.

My mk7 "talks" UDS, not sure what an mk6 ECU talks. Maybe go to the VCDS website and do some reading?

Start by googling "edc17cp14 tuning" and get reading, like I said there are many pages of discussion out there. Might be a great question for an AI chat bot actually.

You're not going to be able to read the ecu via odb in all likelihood- most of the high dollar professional tuning tools are doing a virtual read.

Ktag clone via boot mode is the only sub $1000 tool I have found to do a true read, however you still won't know what brand tune you have if that's what you're after.

Logging using vcds could tell you most of the pertinent details of your tune in terms of max boost request, IQ, rail pressure, smoke/torque limiter, lambda maps, etc. assuming you don't run into diagnostic limiters that didn't get increased.
