Do a search to confirm this is the fix; I am going by memory from 4 years ago.

If it's the typical problem with the airbag in the passengers' seat, the fix:

1. Remove the passenger seat
2. Disconnect the airbag and seatbelt cables
3. Using either solder and heatshrink tubing or crimp butt splices, cut out the 3 pin connector for the airbag, in the bottom of the seat. This is the connector that is causing the airbag code.
4. Reconnect airbag & seatbelt cable
5. Install the passenger seat.

I had this problem and solved it by using a zip tie on the wire under the seat, this stopped movment on the connector thus stopping the airbag light.

I have a 10,000ibs lift at home and i looked under the car and see the drain allen bolt. I think the filter is under the battery box? I have a pressure bleeder,filler but it has a hook type nozzle on it. I would like to know tips, tricks on this. I got all my materials form idparts.

I have a 2004 Jetta w/PD BEW engine. My key fob stopped working. It won't open the doors remotely-it will lock the doors and pop the trunk. I guess I have to replace the remote part of it. I know how to get it apart and I have a key fob that I found at the bottom of a box at a rummage sale. Can I just use the remote from my found fob?

Changing the turn signal bulb in the mirror

Does anyone know how to change the turn signal bulb in the mirror of my 2006 Jetta?

I got the replacement bulb, but can't figure out how to take the old one out. I don't want to damage the mirror; the bulb was $60 so I would hate to guess what an electric mirror would cost.

Can someone please tell me how I can remove the plastic mirror cover off the mirror assembly. It is the charcoal colored part in the picture. All i know is that it clips into the turn signal in the mirror. TIA

This thread in the TDI 101 forum is for solutions and/or how to solve problems in these vehicles. Once you find the solution to your problem(s) feel free to post them here with as many pictures and descriptions as you can. Those of us searching this thread for "How-tos" will thank you, especially if the thread doesn't get so big with posts unrelated to the original intent of the thread that searchers give up. Now that I've contributed to the problem also... I'll shut up.

2013 Passat SEL TDI

Hi, I purchased new 2013 VW Passat SEL TDI in April of this year. I am definitely happier with mileage per gallon compared to Nissan Maxima 2010 that I leased. On average I get around 35 mpg in city and highway combined.
I am still finding the most comfortable sitting and left arm position when I am driving. I like to rest my left arm on the window panel and control the wheel with the same hand only at the joint point of the wheel spokes. I can't seem to find permanent comfortable spot. I welcome any suggestions.
I need to buy a new bike rack and would like to instal a hitch for multiple use, but primarily for a bike rack. I don't like the trunk mountable racks as they scratched my car in the past. Would consider top racks for bikes, skis, etc. Occassinaly I may haul a small trailer for a short distance.
Please give me some ideas, suggestions, cautions about a hitch. Thank you very much!

how to build a mtdi

I recently wae given a ahu tdi engine and I would like to convert it to mtdi for the pure simplicity. I have no idea of the parts I will need to aquire but was hoping someone could help me make a list. What pump? 300 tdi rover pump? What injectors and injector lines do I use? do I need to make custom lines or will stock fit? I have the money to build it and am mechanicaly inclined. Please help me make a complete list. Thanks in advance

i am a newbie. I own a 2003 jetta tdi with a bad transmission and bad rear brakes. All else is in good shape. I want to sell it. I can get $250 for scrap.I can get $400 from a junk yard. I think it should be useful to someone for parts for $800 to $ 1000. Is that reasonable. If so; I would like to advertise it here. How do I go about doing that? Thanks, Brian
