I put a little over 80k miles in 4 years on my Mk4 before I sold it. I've now owned my Mk7 for just about 2 months and I'm closing in on 4000 miles. Admittedly, I put 1000 miles on in my first week......but that was due to the excitement of having a new car! Anyways, I figure then that I've put about 3000 miles on in the last 7 or 8 weeks of normal daily driving. It's due to my 30~ mile (one way) commute to work on top of the occasional errand and some recreation. No long road trips yet. If I keep this up I'll be looking at probably over 20k miles by my first anniversary of ownership. I find this excessive.
Looking at it another way, if I plan on owning the car for at least 10 years, roughly 20~ a year will put me over 200k miles at 10 years of ownership. My 2000 Mk4 had 306k miles when I sold it...so in the end I guess my driving habits aren't anything to be ashamed of.
Cars, especially TDIs, are made to be driven, but what do you consider too much? How much do YOU drive?
