75,000 miles. I love the car more now than when I bought it new. The exhaust flap stuck at 38,000 and was replaced under warranty. No other problems.

2009 JSW TDI (gone but not forgotten)
My '09 JSW only has about 56,000 miles, but it has been totally problem free. It has had regular service and the rear brakes have been replaced. Also the battery has been replaced because where I live, car batteries almost never last more than 3 years. 110+ degree (F) temperatures combined with single digit humidity kills batteries. With the exception of wear parts (brakes) and battery - it has had zero unscheduled maintenance. I am only about 3 weeks away from my 4 year anniversary owning this car and I, too, love it as much (or more) than the day I bought it. These cars are not all "doom and gloom" as one might assume by reading all of the posts by people who have had problems.

{edit} I forgot to mention, I also had to replace my wiper blades. They were not worn out (they get used about twice a year), they were dry rotted - another side effect of living in the desert.

Have Fun!

Don

P.S. One of the advantages of living in the middle of a desert - A month or two ago I had my exhaust flap (valve) out and it looks and works like new. Nothing rusts here. almost no rain, no snow, no salt on the roads.

40,100 miles. Just did the 40K service the other day in the shop but haven't driven it since. No issues at all. I did change the rear pads at around 32K. I was going to replace the fronts but they were not close to needing it so I tossed those parts on the shelf for now. Just keep adding fuel. Stock tires replaced last year at about 30K. I now have a set of steelies for the winter with snow tires and the stock rims got a new set of summer tires.

46,000 miles. No issues. Only replaced items were wiper blades and license plate bulbs. I did the 40,000 mile service myself and everything is doing just fine. Just checked again yesterday and I have yet to have any oil loss.

I had one hard start due to intercooler icing but tend to drain the intercooler hose whenever I'm under the car. No other issues in that area.

Lots of salt on our roads and the exhaust flap is doing fine. I do give it a spray of penetrating oil when I'm under the car though.

Hmm, I might have to do a couple of those things...

90 000 miles on my 2009 Jeta. Minor problème (rear light, front light beams, replaced one tie Rod end) before I got to 75k. Since one year: exhaust flap, and oxygen sensor replaced, and now G235 exhaust temp sensor sensor will be replaced this week. Hopefully, nothing more serious will be found. This year's repairs amount to approx $700. This next repair $600 estimate. $1300 in 4 years is still reasonable. I've saved over $500 in fuel in the last 4 years compared to a similar size gasser. The Jetta is a great car to ride so I still think this car is Worth it despite the recent issues. We will see how 2013 comes out.

61k miles. Original brakes, rears about 40% left, fronts maybe 70%...and this is a mostly suburban/city car.
Mechatronic replaced at 17k...very smooth ever since.
RR door lock replaced...maybe at 21k miles. (?)
I think that's it.
I like this car as much or more than the day I bought it. No surprises.

'09 Jetta TDI 6spd - dead
As of this morning - 146,650ish miles, bought the car at 75,927 miles in late 2010.

Seems I'm not as lucky as others around here...

Other than the usual tires, oil, fuel filters, and light bulbs...

Flapper valve went, all shocks/struts and springs replaced (chasing a clunk I havent found yet, and to put in sport springs), rear caliper was stuck, a reoccuring EGR error code which was eventually diagnosed as a cracked DPF. Both rear door locks were replaced also... and the drivers seat has a large crack/tear in the bottom cushion.

Things that need attention - rear brakes again, wheel bearings are getting loud, and the aformentioned mystery rear end clunk. Its probably getting near time for ball joints and tie rods too.

Also there's the list of things I decided to modify/change just because

Mine only has 66k miles. I bought it recently at 59k. Very pleased with it. Had the 60k service done a couple days after buying the car and the dealer tech reported the rear pads were worn so I let him replace them.

Records obtained from seller indicated the megatronix unit had a recall service done at around 45k.

107K replace exhaust flap, now V157 fault (Intake Flap).
SO runs great, but these mechanical probs suck. The Intake Flap is a major PITA to change (need new intake manifold).

tire life is amazing.....Bridgestone Serenity over 5oK and look like another 30K left

2nd set of tires.
original brakes.
I have had CEL light that has said the exhaust flapper valve stuck open and stuck closed about 6 or 7 times. both within the same week. the light usually turns off after about 2 days. the dealer told me that it might just be a small piece of carbon hanging up inside it. I will worry about it when it actually stays on.

cheanged the fuel filter at 50,00o no signs of metal in the filter

The 09 has 43k.Flush cooling system also replace the over flow tank and replace fuel filter housing because of rust inside the housing.

The 10 has 39k no problem so far.

Nothing to complain about here:
93,000 miles
I'm on my 3rd & 4th sets of tires
The rear brakes needed changing at 55k miles (I changed the fronts too because I was changing compounds because the OEM brakes were horrible)
1 window switch
1 door latch
Exhaust pressure sensor
I had a little metal at my first fuel filter change but the last 3 have been fine

I did have an episode of IC icing but I was able to do something that keeps IATs above freezing in the temps that I will be driving the car in.

I have an early 2010....am I allowed to chime in? 75,000 miles. couple intercooler icing episodes 2 years ago. have since moved to where its not a prob. in the last few months replaced one glow plug (pressure sensor fault). replaced LR door lock actuator (stopped working) and replaced turn signal switch (cruise control fault).

fuel filters always looked like new, orig brakes still look good getting close for new set of tires.

I like the car, but I guess I am a little disappointed at how many things have gone wrong in 65k miles

-un explained stalled engine after running for 2 miles that took a while to restart that sounded like air in the fuel system after I got it going again (it was the first run after sitting for 3 months straight) around 19k
-Replaced all 4 tires at around 20k because of a sidewall flat and the conti's were terrible.
-Replaced DSG metatronic unit by dealership at 35k
-Replaced rear brake pads after the rear left was sticking... not an e-brake adjustment issue too, plenty of slack. Replaced both at about 45k
-A few failed starts due to frozen intercooler, one left me stranded. Replaced intercooler with TSB from dealership at 54k
-G235 exhaust temp sensor pre turbo went out at 56k. Couldn't get the dealership to replace it (And they kept insisting the code was the DPF pressure sensor... even after I showed them my VCDS print out....guess I didn't want to pay them to NOT fix it anyway!)
-Replaced both front wheel bearings at 62k after being bothered with a cronic shaking and vibration since 20k miles.... probably 5 alignments, 1 set of new tires, and new rims since then. Still shakes a little but not as bad.
-Smelled brakes the other day again on the left rear at 64k... one wheel hot.... sounds like another set of rear brake pads. I even lubed all moving parts when I did it last time
-The little peanut sized parking light randomly goes out. Not the bulb. Sometimes it's on, turn the car off and it goes out... turn it back on and it comes on. Whatever
-Replaced low beams just 3 weeks ago at 65k
-Replaced battery just 3 weeks ago at 65k. I was being a little proactive since it parked for 3 days at 10*F weather and barely started. Battery tested at 60% original capacity a few weeks before and replacement suggestion is to replace at 67%. We'll see if it's a drainage issue when I start it at the airport in a few days after being away for 2 weeks.

I maintian the car very well, and would have spent WAY too much money if I had to pay someone to do any of this work. I had to argue the Mechatronic unit and the Intercooler TSB with the dealership with good facts and clearly showing them I understood the issues and that they were prevelant.

All in all... this car is dissapointing now that I write it all down! However, I like driving it and it's relatively comfortable.... not to mention I'm a certifiable cetane junky. If I still owed money on it, I probably would trade it in towards a Chevy Cruz diesel or a Mazda 6 diesel later this year. However, I've owned it outright for years now and since the trade in has plummeted on these cars recently I most likely will drive it for quite some time unless something really irritates me. Buying and trading cars it NOT cost beneficial!

103,000 kms on the odometer, though with a 'new' motor that has 113000 kms on it. gremlins include cold start issues with a faulty glow plug control module (never tripped a code) and four burnt-out glow plugs (no codes tripped there neither). one of the Exhaust Gas Temperature sensors (the brown one!) also stopped working. broken wire on cruise control. second set of tires, changed rear brake pads.

Bought 09 Jetta with DSG in July 2012. Just passed 90,000 miles. Changed the oil, oil filter, cabin filter, rotated the tires and put in a new K&N air filter. Fuel mileage has improved! Wife and I Very Happy with the car! Great performance! Next up: Change fuel filter.
