My free trial ended about 10 days ago.

Received the $12.95/month offer last week, and then received the $77/year offer yesterday. Mulling it over...

My trial is up in about 3 weeks...got my first letter a few days ago and called and asked about any promotions as I was on the fence about keeping it at all (true)....quickly got the $77/yr deal.

See how a year goes, but nice to not interrupt service I guess.

Not Happy! Does every Sat radio lose signal for every bridge, power line, tree branch, puffy cloud...? *** I might as well switch to an AM station! I'm glad I only opted for the 1 year contract.

If you let your service lapse, and let a few renewal letters go by unanswered, you can get a 5 month for $25 deal. The first time around I had to politely decline a phone call offer, and eventually the rep got around to offering me the 5 month deal.

They must be getting easier....I was offered 6 months for $25 at the same time as the year for $77.

The 6 month one would renew at the current rates after it expired. I just had no interest in re-visting this in 6 months.

My trial still had 3-4 weeks left and I had just gotten the first letter in the mail. Didn't have to transfer to any "retention specialists" or anything. I just nicely asked if they had any cheaper packages as I could really live without it but liked a few channels (truth)

I would have just let it expire and never renewed if they stuck to their price or sent me to other departments.

This about sums it up for me. For $6.50 per month it's ok. But at $12.95 it's not. These cars allow an interface to MP3 and iPhone. Mine even has an 18GB hard drive. So access to programming is not a problem on long trips which I do every day.

Having let it lapse after the initial free trial, I now have yet another two weeks free from Sirius (they did this a wee while back too) with an offer of 6 months for $25. That's not how much they are offering to pay me to listen. Even then, with their strangulated music quality, I doubt I would find that a bargain.

Originally, they were offering $142.95 for a 1-year contract. I told him no way, that was only $1.25 off per month and he immediately went down to $95/year. I thought that was fair and took the offer. I listen to it a fair amount, mostly on shorter trips where I don't go to the trouble to hook up my iPhone to the MDI cable.

I'm paying $25/6 mos.

Just be sure to cx or re-negotiate at that point or you may auto-renew at the full price....$140/yr.

I asked to get the 6 month and no commitment after....they wouldnt do. They plan on people not remembering, I suppose...

I bought a lifetime membership in January 2007 when I bought the Silleto.
Now that my golf comes with built-in sirius I will be transferring the membership. I got an e-mail that stating that the swap fee will be $75 plus taxes.

The lifetime membership wasn't cheap when I got at $639.89 (Canadian $).
However, as of the end of August, it has cost me an average of $11.63 per month (excluding upcoming swap fee) and continues to go down the longer I have it.

Although the $25/6month offer cannot be beat !! I have never heard of audible but will look into it. Sounds like it is getting lots of praise.

I did the lifetime subscription in Nov '06 ($530ish US). it's nice not having a bill ever again. That unit is now in my wife's car. I may do the same again on another stand alone unit for my car. I'm not a fan of having the subscription tagged only to the vehicle.

Not only that, but they will make it horribly impossible to cancel your subscription should you choose to not carry them anymore. Had a 1 year subscription WAY back in 2007 that literally took a month of phone calls to have cancelled.

If they were like netflix, where I could switch my subscription and/or cancel at ANY point in time, they would have my business. Until then, no thanks.

On topic, I received about 3 mail notifications offering the the 12 months for about $70 for the first 3-4 months after letting expire. After that, they just stopped coming

I guess I should have waited a little longer. I let mine expire and was offered $92 after a little talking and and they also let me do my wife XM car for the same.

In June, about two weeks after my free trial expired, I got them to give me 5 months for $19.99 (plus about $6 in taxes). I figured that was better than the year for $77. I'll probably go to that after my 5-months is up. I was worried they would auto-bill me for more afterwards so I asked for them to mail me a bill. They said there was a fee for that. So I put it on my Amex, but made it clear that I do NOT want auto-renew. I guess we'll see what happens in a couple months. If they charge me some crazy rate, I will certainly dispute it.

Are the people who got the $77/year plan paying taxes/royalty fees as well, or is it just $77 OTD?

I'm pretty sure the taxes/royalties are added onto the $77, bringing the total up to $95ish. I've heard of some getting these fees "dropped", but cannot confirm

They wouldn't give me the $75/year again since I had it last year....gave me 5 months for $20! I will have to call back in January to negotiate again....

They gave you $4.00 per month instead of $6.25 per month.

Why didn't you take it for the 5 months?

It will auto-renew at the $140/yr rate...but you should get a letter ahead of time so you can re-negotiate prior.

I asked about that specifically, and just went with the year $77 rate as I can only dedicate so much time to dealing with Sirius radio, LOL. Once a year is enough for me.

Hey, another local! I'm just up the road in Clear Lake. Do you have a white JSW? I saw one the other day at Bay Area and I-45, but couldn't catch up in traffic.

Oh, and to keep this response somewhat on topic, I found another reason today to renew Sirius when the time comes - about 10+ different college football games the past weekend, including SEC football. I'll pay just for that.

My "5 mos. for $20" offer was about to end and I called to cancel (I actually listen to it very little). They first offered a "6 mos. for $45 + fees". After declining, it dropped to $30 total for 6 mos. I still don't use it very much but it is nice to have for road trips. $5/mo seems reasonable to me.

A few weeks ago my trial period was coming to an end. I called; told the guy I did not want to sign up because the service was not worth the retail price; he offered me $33 for 6 months; I hit it.

Got a letter in the mail and a call today about asking to renew it. I declined, waiting for a call back to see how far I can get it down, if not looks like Pandora for me for a while.

They wont play many games, no need to wait on calls. I just called them before it expired and nicely asked for their best deal as I could easily let it expire (truth)

They quickly came up with the $25/6 months or $77/year after I said No Thanks to the $135/year.

I'm with most people and agree thats about all its worth. Just a lot of crap on sat radio and iPods make it far from a necessity anymore.

I just stream Pandora from my phone over BT and it's as good if not better than Sat Radio. Best part is it doesn't cost me anything more. And if I want to ditch the commercials (which there are very few of) it's only $30 for a year and it goes where ever I go!

I think the days of Sat Radio are numbered unless they can re-engineer their business model.
