I'll just have to re-iterate, I had the mufflerectomy done and stuck it out for about 2 years. Then the complaints I got from passengers as well as I could not stand the droning from a standstill anymore.
Had a straight-thru muffler (Hollywood mufler) installed and that cured the droning !!!

I have to agree the differnce on the outside is neglible, just the droning inside !

if the drowning bugs you make the exhaust exit out, not point down towards the pavement

that being said, i love straight exhaust tdis, it only gets a bit louder if you remove the cat, the turbo does all the muffling in the system, that the system needs anyways

Like Lnxguy said, either will be good, choose which one looks best

you only get real droning if you remove the cat and also go to a bigger turbo

youtube a video of one, High compression and turbo act as a sound suppressant, very quite compared to na gasoline counter parts

Pff. There's no such thing as high compression anymore.

Days if 22:1 are gone I think.

They killed the ratio in the 70s to knock NOx, and killed hp/tq too....

OK, rant over. Sorry.

A gasoline engine compresses at a ratio of 8:1 to 12:1, while a diesel engine compresses at a ratio of 14:1 to as high as 25:1.

Isn't 22:1 between the 14 and 25?

Sorry if I posted wrong info. I apologize.

I don't rate a 14:1 diesel as "high" compression.

And gas is made so ridiculously cheap, (and yellow tinted now vs clear 40 years ago, ) I don't even know how the stuff lights up. COP is saving that i guess....

A gallon of 110oct after 15 days is garbage in my 13:1 yz450f.......Nothing but backfire and blubbering.

I have 2.5 inch from the CAT back no muffler, drive 202 km 95% highway 401 daily .

I don't have any drone what so ever .

My tail pipe goes straight out , and flares to 3 . something inches .

Been driving as a daily driver for over 2 years with no complaints

Wow, I like the look!

However, I now have it on good authority that I should leave my exhaust alone as im going Malone stage 2 and id rather not have boost creep issues

You could still have boost creep issues with the stock exhaust.. You won't know until you actually get it tuned. Some do, some don't.

I am Kerma tuned ( Stage 2 eqiv) with nozzles, race pipe and SB Stage 2 clutch with stock turbo and haven't had any problems.

I try not to over boost thou :( (too much  ) .

I have a BuzzKen exhaust with two resonators, it's a bit more open than stock with no muffler. It sounds good and it's not loud at all. I have no boost creep issues. I can make some driving videos from inside the car if you want.

You've got a completely different engine then the OP does.

I have boost creep too I assume... straight piped and still boosts to 22.6 psi with new turbo, same thing as before with my old turbo which I thought was sticky vanes and over boost, I guess it could've been a mix, but at this point I don't know what else it could be... O well, I guess i'll it take it since the turbo can handle it

I would call that overbOOst, a new N75 and a little actuator adjustment and you'd be rockin. You should only be around 15psi on a stage 1 tune.

Yea I've been looking to get a new n75, will pick up one when I get the chance but timing belt next... What sort of difference should I expect with a new one and an adjustment? (sorry for the thread hijack)
