I suspect delivery dates based upon geography. VW headquarters located in Virginia, might be where the mailings originate. US Postal service has regional hubs. Things take time to work through these systems.
It is very possible it will takes weeks to process all of the requests. These need to be printed, then put into envelopes, that process is fairly time consuming for 500k packages.

Having worked in this industry, I can tell you this is no small effort.

It is highly likely these are being batched based on a criteria that has nothing to do with the data of sign-up. More likely it is regional or based on the VIN or some other meaningless bit of info. Obviously, those who signed up already will get processed faster than those who haven't signed up yet, but those who have signed up already, the sign up date isn't likely important.

Living on VW's dime

Just wanted to confirm that the card actually does work as a credit card. Yesterday VW paid for our groceries. Unfortunately $500 doesn't go all that far. Is there any hope for more handouts? ;-)

I haven't decided yet what to use the dealer-only card for. Maybe I'll hold off until next fall to make sure no repairs come up in the meantime. Stockpiling tires does not seem like a good option (take up space, and age even in storage). Maybe motor oil and various filters? But that also doesn't seem all that attractive: $500 buys ten 5qt jugs or 100,000 miles worth of oil. I would be storing oil for years. It would be better to spend it on something one has an immediate use for. Better lights? A roof carrier (which I don't need)? Do they sell cooled seats or a heated steering wheel for the Jetta/Golf wagon?

If I can't come up with something I need immediately then converting into IDparts credit (without expiration date) might be the best remaining option.
Edit: or was that offer only for the credit card?

If that was the case, mine would likely be here by now (registered 11/9). I live about two hours from VWOA headquarters. Just my $.02...

In this coming year, my wife will have 30K service coming up on her 2015, so part of it can be spent on that (but that's just an oil change). I suppose we could get a jug of Adblue, but that isn't all that expensive. My 2014 will need 20K service, but that will be covered by VW, so I am not anticipating any expenses in the coming year.

Stockpiling oil/filters is always possible - I thought of that, but as you say you will end up with a lot of stuff. I thought of buying a bunch of polo shirts as well, which I wouldn't have to worry about finding a use for.

Or perhaps the parts needed for a timing belt change? That would take up less space, but we won't be needing one of those for quite some time.

Maybe a set of tires, and then store the tires until you actually need them to be mounted? But you would need space to store the things.

If you're stockpiling filters, oil, and other service parts keep in mind that you need 5 quarts of oil every 10k, an oil filter every 10k, a fuel filter every 20k, a cabin air filter every 20k (I think; I'm too lazy to look it up), an engine air filter every 40k (again, too lazy to look it up), and brake fluid after 3 years then every 2 years after that. I suspect that $500 worth of maintenance items at dealer prices won't last as long as some of you think. But if you can buy enough maintenance parts to make it to 120k, your timing belt parts will likely use up the rest of the card.

I just did the 30k service without the VW card and don't expect any problem using $500 on parts/accessories at the VW dealer over the next year.

Tires age, just from sitting around.

But that's the problem: if it's ridiculously overpriced, I don't want to buy it at the dealer. Like, I don't want to pay $120 for 5 quarts and an oil filter (just making this price up, as an example), if the same thing is $59 online (not made up, IDparts, with oil upgrade).
I want to spend the $500 on stuff that makes sense.

Registered 11/9, have seen nothing.

I also live in VA.

The pattern is quite obvious.

It's not being processed at the headquarters. They are using a direct mail logistics company.

Your made-up numbers are a bit off - Castrol oil (507.00) at the dealer costs $ 8.83 per quart, and the OEM oil filter is $ 10.95, plus tax, of course, but no shipping charges. So, the total for 5 quarts plus filter will be $ 55.10 plus tax. If I recall correctly, Castrol is the highest upgrade for your oil choice at ID Parts, and if you want to order the Castrol oil and OEM filter from them, it will cost you $ 74.95 + $ 4.95 shipping = $ 79.90. Compare that to $ 55.10 plus tax at the dealer, and it doesn't take a genius to see the winner here.

Same as others here - packaged was approved or ordered 11/10/15... Mail came and still NO Goodwill Package! This is ridiculous and so much so for 'up to 4 weeks'! This is really getting me frustrated... Aside from the fact I got double whammy as my 2011 TDi Touareg is also affected.:mad::mad:

Just curious - did VW come up with any kind of "goodwill" package for owners of vehicles with the 3-liter diesels as well?

Unfortunately NO. Seems like the fix will be a 'simple' software flash though nothing concrete yet.

I've been lurking here for a few weeks to see how long everyone has been waiting. I registered on 11/09, and still nothing. I called customer service last week, and they said it shipped on 12/09. I am in Atlanta, and still have not received it. My neighbor got his on 12/11, and he registered on 11/25, so it obviously isn't on a first come, first serve basis. I am irritated with the wait, as our GTI is due for 40k service, so that $500 is going to come in handy.

Not too far off of being 4 weeks, considering that VW has no control over the Post Office.
