Hi guys and gals,

I just noticed a Murphy Express not far from my house has Diesel and the prices are $3.89 versus the Shell's 4.09 down the road.

Have you guys used their diesel befor?

Is the quality inferior to Shell or Chevron?

Thanks!

I have used the one in Kemah, TX. No problems and non expected since they are a major provider and their turnover is good (right by Walmart so D2 sales are frequent).

As long as you buy from a known provider (Shell, Valero, Murphy Oil, Chevron, etc.) with high volume sales (near a busy transit area) then you are fine. Just add your favorite additive and you are good to go.

Now if you can find good quality B2, B5, B10 ... then that's the best option in my view.

In Missouri City, you MAY be getting actual D2 from Murphy's refinery in MERAUX Louisiana, but its doubtful. Their fuel distribution area is pretty local (all terminals in Louisiana) and its probably traded to a wholesaler and blended with other refinery products in Texas, probably in Houston. Then sold to Sam's club or Walmart.

Murphy supplies WalMart and a bunch of other "labels" in my area. Use it from several sources and never had any issues or could tell any differences.
D2 (#2 diesel) is just fine. I don't know about TX, but here in MN all the D2 sold is about 5% bio (B5). Don't sweat the brand(s). Most of the time many brands all come out of the same distribution plant. There are only a few of them up this way, and as most places, dozens of brands/labels. Fill up where they sell a good volume and drive happy.

I used this fuel in my powerstroke 6.0 turbo diesel, and it hated it. I'll never use it again. The little extra I pay in my area is more than worth it to get a good quality fuel.

My fuel mileage dropped almost 2mpgs in that truck and it just ran worse. It was amazing what that one tank of fuel made me realize.

Never again for me.

This was in Pascagoula, MS where I fueled up.
