How do VW special offers work?

I bought a TDI wagon a couple weeks ago, but I was unaware of the $1000 fuel card promotion they were running as part of the clean diesel event. Is it possible to still coax the dealer/vw to get me that fuel card? This is my first new car and I don't have a lot of experience with dealers.

You won't have to coax the dealer. The card comes directly from VW corporate.

Unfortunately there were two options, take the card or have another $1,000 subtracted from the sale price. I took the extra $1,000 AFTER negotiating my final price. If you took the extra cash off you had to sign paperwork to that affect. Hopefully you read everything you signed, otherwise you may have agreed to NOT take the card.

It was June 27th IIRC. Definitely before.

The $1000 fuel card incentive was not available until July 1st, so that is why you werent aware of it. Their was a $500 dealer cash at that time.

Ah alright, my mistake. They still didn't even let me know about the $500 incentive. Oh well, life goes on.
