How do I replace the glow plug controller?

So I haven’t had any lucky on finding any videos or pics on how to change out the glow plug controller/harness. I’ve found out either it’s plug and play or you have to splice the wires. So I’m confused how to do it ik it’s probably a simple thing to do but I wanna make sure I do it right and don’t mess anything up. I have a 1998 vw Jetta tdi mk3

And that’s the hard way. I find it’s easiest to undo the OOD (Orb of Death) and de-pin the wires, then just plug the new wires in. No soldering needed, looks cleaner, and is the way it should be done.

What are the PIN numbers if you know them by chance?

Not offhand. I de-pinned them one at a time and plugged the new ones into the same spot.

8 & 16 on 24 pin connector..... really living up to your alias there.....

Exactly… why would you need to know the socket numbers? I jumped through that vid and turned it off when I saw him poking at that mass of shrink tube.…
