Car is an 05. I bought it at 170k miles with a recently installed cam, timing belt, water, and oil pump.
It had been manual swapped for 20k miles. The seller couldn't tell me if it had the balance shaft removed.
I blew the turbo at about 175k miles and have read that it might have been starved of oil because of a failed balance shaft. From my understanding these turbos should last much longer. The car is tuned to 22lbs, I don't know for how long, but I was beating on it when it blew.
It's back together and running well, but I'm concerned.

Do you have a bore scope? Drain the oil and look for the enormous balance shaft assembly attached to the bottom of the main caps. If you see a plastic splash guard and not cast metal boat anchor scrap metal you're in luck.

If it is back together and running well, with no low oil pressure light, it seems like your oil pump is still working.

Apparently it takes more oil to fill the deleted one. Measure and see if it takes more than your manual says.

Check how many qts it takes at oil change, 41/2 qts you have a BSM, 5 qts you have ALH oil pump
