We have....or used to have a trusted TDI guru shop list by state. How about a list of shops to avoid. I realize that can be subjective or even abused....no different than trusted shops.

I have a "Kraftywerks" shop in Walpole, MA I would absolutely avoid...a 90 minute drive for me. Dropped off my perfectly running reliable 2015 PASSAT TDI for a turbo upgrade (with associated bits) on Mar 3rd 2025 for a planned (his words) "2 weeks" spa treatment.....I now have no word in 2 months of any progress, condition, or quite frankly whereabouts of my car. Last I knew he was "thinking about", "may have figured out" the routing of the turbo coolant lines.......that was 3 weeks ago BTW.......

I was warned I'd be towing my vehicle FROM his shop.....looking more and more likely.

Update May 8th: Today get a message ( and he'll call me later...never happened). He's trying to figure out the exhaust (turbo outlet to DP). I'm told the other bits like TIP and Boost pipe will have to be figured out after the exhaust is hooked up. Now mind you, supposedly turbo is mounted where it's GOING to be, so in my mind....figure out the ****ingTIP/Boost pipes NOW. I swear, I'm looking at a minimum of 4 ****ing months to get this done......waaay tooo long!

Update May 18: No word and the call back mentioned above never happened. Going on near 3 MONTHS!!!

Update June 2 2025. Still same work that needs to be finished up....same excuses. Tomorrow June 3rd makes it 4 months!!

I prefer to rank my trusted repair shops. At the far bottom of my list are the factory authorized dealers.
I have a few independent shops I have used. My first choice, the one I frequent more than the others, has a quick turn-around, or at least the courtesy to notify me of unforseen issues that cause delay.
Even that shop has the rare oversights I've discovered after they've completed work.
