Does anyone else see the drag strip, oops I mean service road in front of the hotel? :D

That is an exit ramp from the Autoroute 40 service road!! Traffic in the area is not....light. So, take care, and realise that you are a guest in the country and province!! :)

Though, you will notice that the parking lot is very large. There will be a SLOW SPEED driving skills course. But, don't do it too fast. You hit one cone and you are disqualified (as per the course designer!!)

Yes, Yes, I knew I would catch some slack about posting that. Just kiddin.

So what is this disqualified for hitting one cone? That sounds pretty challenging. From what I remember we had maybe 2 runs out of 30 or so that didn't hit the cones at the Phili fest.

Maybe Nathan was looking at the inner road around the parking lot?

Anybody got connections for a calibrated speed gun or "your speed is..." box?

Yes, so please drive the way the locals do... that means: read the KM/H signs as equalling MPH...:D

As far as the awards... I think I can safely predict that if there's an award for dirtiest car, I'll win it hands down !!! (Just ask Iggy...)

Looking forward...

HAHAHAHA... you're funny. Sorry, jake. I'll be too busy running registrations to be in a wet T-shirt contest. But if y'all wanna make that an offical Fest Event, that's up to you! *insert sarcasm here* :p

Here are some of the local driving laws to respect;)

Ministère des Transports du Québec Official Guide - New Drivers in Québec

1.
Turn signals will give away your next move. A confident Québec driver
avoids using them.

2. Under no circumstance should you maintain a safe distance between you and

the car in front of

you, because somebody else will fill in the space, putting you in an even
more dangerous situation.

3. The faster you drive through a red light, the less of a chance you have
of getting hit.

4. Warning! Never come to a complete stop at a stop sign. No one expects it
and it will result in

your being rear-ended.

5. Never get in the way of an older car that needs extensive bodywork,
especially with New

Brunswick or Ontario plates. With no insurance, the other operator has
nothing to lose.

6. Braking is to be done as hard and late as possible to ensure that your
ABS kicks in, giving a

vigorous, foot massage as the brake pedal violently pulsates. For those of
you without ABS, it's a

chance to strengthen your leg muscles.

7. Never pass on the left when you can pass on the right. It's a good way to

prepare other drivers

entering the highway.

8. Speed limits are arbitrary figures, given only as a suggestion and are
not enforceable in

Québec during rush hour, especially in Montréal.

9. Just because you're in the left lane and have no room to speed up or move

over doesn't mean

that a Québec driver flashing his high beams behind you doesn't think he can

go faster in your

spot.

10. Always brake and rubberneck when you see an accident or even someone
changing a tire.

This is seen as a sign of respect for the victim.

11. Learn to swerve abruptly without signaling. Québec is the home of
high-speed slalom-driving;

thanks to the Ministère des Transports du Québec, which puts pot-holes in
key locations to test

drivers' reflexes and keep them alert.

12. It is tradition in Québec to honk your horn at cars in front of you that

do not move three

milliseconds after the light turns green.

Just wanted to add I've stayed at this hotel many times on business and the breakfast buffet is excellent - if you inquire you can get a rate that includes tickets for the buffet breakfast but if not I think the cost is 15$+ tax and tip. The hotel is a bit older (evidenced by older elevators) but the rooms are good.

For reference, another place I've stayed in that's a 5 minute drive farther east on the hwy is the Mariott Residence Inn. The cost is higher because you get a suite with a kitchenette but this particular hotel is quite new so its also good. There's a breakfast included as well which isn't as good as the Holiday Inn's but is still decent.

And no, I'm not just 'all about the breakfast'...

I've never been to one of these. Just wondering, what is there to do besides party all night? Do they have activities?

Just bought my new TDI last week, am thinking about coming.

The radman comments were totally a humorous tongue in cheek effort. Perhaps this was taken too literally so a bit of editorial latitude will be allowed. Don’t go too far please!
