Homelink not working

I searched, couldn't find anything.

I was able to get it to work once, after re-programming it several times with the hand-held remote, but now, nothing. (could it be because my garage door opener was OEM on Fred Flinstone's garage?)

Help anyone?

Hello? Anyone? I was starting to like you 2012 Passat TDI guys, and now you ignore me? Maybe none of you have vintage garage door openers?

Seriously, I'm trying to determine if it's a Homelink issue, or a "time to get a new garage door opener" issue. Thanks!

Do you have a family member or friend with a newer opener that you can try to get it to work with? That is the only advice I have as I don't yet have my B7.

Sorry to have bothered everyone. It was NOT a Homelink problem. The antenna/receiver wire on the garage opener box (the motor, etc.) was too short, and for whatever reason, the position of the Homelink, on the ceiling of the Passat, just wasn't able to communicate with it. The solution? I just spliced a longer antenna/receiver wire onto the garage opener box.

I'll get the moderator to remove the entire post.

No I think that you should leave it. Someone else may have this problem and it may help. I'm glad that you didn't have to buy a new door opener!!

I also discovered that the Homelink is NOT powered unless the ignition switch is on (with or w/o the motor running). I wonder if there's an easy way to power it independent of the ignition switch?
I like to open my garage doors way before I start my engine in the morning...
