2003 Golf TDI ALH Auto, I am looking to do a manual swap. Where is the best places to find parts and is there anyone local who has done this?

There is also People II in Highland which is relatively close to you. The trusted mechanic list has them as possibly closed but he is just there later in the day from what I have experienced. Might be worth calling, he has a load of older Volkswagens at his shop and might be able to help parts wise too.

Lol fair, I had the same issues but apparently they don't really get there till like 1pm or later and then work till late. Looks like you already are in process of getting it done though. Hope its working out!

Ah man, then try giving Peoples II a call later today. I was going to do the same in a few since my Passat is actually there right now.
It really wasn't that hard to do on my old 2003 Jetta 2.0 gasser. First to 02J, later upgraded to 02M. I followed a TDI 5 speed swap guide that I found on this forum which was close enough.
I used a 2000 donor car for the 02J swap, and moved over the axles, shifter and cables, and possibly the left side trans mount. I retained the auto brake pedal because it looked like a pain to change. I mounted the clutch master cylinder and hung the clutch pedal without removing the pedal box. Cut the crimped off nipple on the side brake reservoir to supply the clutch hydraulics. Adding the clutch switches was a bit of wiring but nothing too difficult. Disconnected the TCM under the cowl and used VCDS to re-code CAN Gateway accordingly. As far as I remember, I had an auto gauge cluster with manual gauge overlays to cover up the gear indicator. In my case having a gas engine I needed a different ECU to eliminate rev hang, but I remember reading somewhere that the TDI ECU can be re-coded to manual. You need to drop the exhaust to get the auto shifter out, and put in the manual shifter and cables. The existing center console works with the manual shifter boot.
I might have a couple of 02J axles if you want them. I'd have to look.
