Our 2014 6M TDi Passat with Malone 1.5 tune just turned 50k miles & developed a quiet but noticeable turbo whistle with no other symptoms except maybe loss of a few mpg. Very soon after during normal driving it emitted a 'whoosh' noise & lost boost. I assumed boost hose/tube had a tear or popped off. Car still ran ok on short drive home but with no turbo assistance. Next day it ran with progressively less power before ceasing to run at all. It will now start but quickly dies & won't stay running.

We had it towed to local VW specialist who is known as the go to guy here who fount a 'no boost regulation" code but couldn't find anything wrong. All vacuum present, turbo in good shape, no leaks. We towed it home & went through step by step checklist for no boost found on kermatdi looking for vacuum leaks, vnt actuator rod, etc. with no issues found. Next step is replacing 'N75' valve.

I'd rather not start throwing parts at it & hope somebody here has had & solved this issue & can help. We planned to keep it until end of year then return for buyback but if it would run I'd turn it in tomorrow.

Considering sending ecm to Malone to return to stock programming & then take to dealer to solve but they aren't well regarded for service.

Thank you.

It would appear from what you say that the first step is to secure a proper diagnosis.

All turned back to VW. Now a 2017 Hundai Tuscon. Not a single squalk in 10k miles.
Methinks you'll find a split charge air hose. Maybe not too obvious, but there anyway. Otherwise I'd have to bet on a bad turbo even if indications are to the contrary. The whine you noticed is probably the clue. My guess is that you heard the whine either because the turbo was failing, or because it was attempting to boost through a split tube.

Yup! I found mine by squeezing the 2.0 inch turbo exit tube (22.5 degrees extending from Turbo to Hard intercooler lines). Mine cracked at the base of the tube. I had another thread where I put an aftermarket part on the car. It still exists today. Woe to me if they wish the car to be completely stock. It was their fault that I couldn't get the part for three days.

There are just too many to list....
Turbo failure on the CKRA is very common. So common, they extended the warranty on them. But with a tune, you have become your own warranty. I do not know how much turbo failure is related to the DPF regen cycle, or the aggressive warm up cycle the CKRA uses, but a tune/delete could potentially take away that stress...but adding a higher requested maximum boost may put that weakness right back...and then some.

Do a GTD 190 or CR 170 Turbo upgrade with stage 3.5 tune. The power is amazing.
