... you are my only hope!
About a year ago, I bought a 2003 TDI NB and have been lurking here since then. I have learned so much (thank you!) and now I need some specific advice, if you would be so kind.
Over the weekend, a coolant temp sensor install went awry and resulted in the loss of about 2/3 of the car's coolant. Stupidly, I didn't have any G12 on hand.
So today I got the car to the shop that I've been using for my run-of-the-mill Honda and they got the sensor in with no problem. I found out when I picked it up, though, that they 'topped off' the coolant with 'universal' coolant. One of the things I've learned as a lurker is that this is A Bad Thing (TM).
It never even occurred to me that they wouldn't use G12 (I now have 2 gallons from Wray). So, now I have to fix it.
Despite my general handiness, after the sensor problems I am not confident in my ability to do a complete flush-and-fill myself (not unsupervised anyway). Normally, I'd take it back to the shop to have them fix their mistake but I also don't have confidence in their ability.
So, can any of you recommend a place or a someone who can do this (or help me do it) and maybe even become my mechanic? I am definitely not looking for a hand-out, but rather just a finger (no, not that one!) pointing me in the right direction.
Thank you again for sharing your knowledge and in advance for any advice you can give!
