Hey guys,

My 98 Jetta got broken in to the other day and I need to replace the dash and front passenger side window.

I got the replacement parts from the junkyard but I am worried about the airbag on the passenger side going off. Do I have to worry?

Also, are there any tools I need to get the door panel/dash off so I don't wreck anything.

Any other tips would be appreciated as well.

Thanks in advance!

Well, I got the dash out and the new one in without blowing the airbag. I'm not sure if it possible to blow it but it did look intimidating...lol

Just disconnect the battery, then as you remove the airbag locate the yellow connector, and unplug the wire. Set the airbag aside in a dry, safe, spark / flame free area and you'll be golden. Just be smart, airbags are designed to be handled safely.
