Alright, after reading for the last 2 hours, I have not been able to clearly answer if there is a way to lower the microphone sensitivity on my new car. So for info, I have a 2011 Jetta TDI DSG with the RCD-510 (Premium 8) radio. Also there is a little owners manual called "Mobile phone package (Standard, PLUS)". I see lots of information about speaking clearly and changing the volume on the stereo to change how loud the other person is, but nothing about how loud I am (BTW, I am not loud...normally;)) I read through my iPhone online docs and it says the BT device should control the microphone sensitivity.

My wife actually said is sounded like I was yelling when in reality I was nearly whispering.

Help!!

Minor update, so today I used it again and the person I spoke to said it wasn't overly loud. So I'm not sure what is going on. I played with my iPhone and Google'd around and still can't find anything on this.. So consider it an update and a bump..

have not noticed any issues with the Bluetooth volume incoming or outgoing. it works well enough but not half as nice as the Bluetooth/Sync in my 2010 F150.

FWIW what did scare the crap out of me and nearly caused an accident was the voice activated "menu lady." i must have accidentally hit the button on the left side of the steering wheel and she blasted at me full volume nearly blowing the speakers.

i was driving alone in an otherwise quiet car and damn near came out of the seat. lol

i have not yet figured out how turn her down permanently but that issue is probably for a another thread.

Did nearly the exact same thing.. Not sure why the Voice Activation is set so high and haven't found that setting yet either.

The "car lady voice" volume is controlled with the incoming call volume. This and the last name first thing when voice dialing are the only objectionable things with the BT system in my opinion. Next time you are on a hands free call lower the volume either with the radio knob or the steering wheel controls and the "car lady" will mind her manners. :D

hey man......that seemed to work out well. tomorrow i'll check to see if the system retained the volume info. thanks. beside the horn sounding when locking the door, that was the next most annoying thing.

the system retained the lower volume setting and worked like a charm today. thanks again.

note to self: voice activated menu volume will be whatever the volume was last time you took an incoming call over the Bluetooth.
