Picked up a beautiful, 1-owner, 2010 CC VR6 4Motion with 40,000 miles on August 10th. Nav, 300W Dynaudio, backup cam, etc... Loving this car. The looming buyback of my 2011 TDI sedan with 111,000 miles will cover all but $1200 of what I have into the CC. It was a home run. It even came with brand new tires, a brand new battery and an oil change.

Obviously a big change in fuel economy from the TDI. But the VR6...its awesome.

I started working at GM in August, so I decided to support the company and bought a 2016 Chevy Malibu.

VW is sitting in the driveway, with a CEL on and a battery that doesn't hold charge. One last jump start to go to the dealerhip when the time comes.

Yes and no. My '10 has been paid off for a year, and the plan was to replace my truck while the Jetta went into its later years.

I did replace my truck with a '17 Tacoma, and will just whittle down to a single vehicle for a while. My gf is looking to upgrade from her '99 Civic, so I may just use that as a secondary vehicle when the time comes. I may look at a CR-V or Rav-4 once the truck is paid off, but I'm fine with the truck as a daily driver now that I'm a homeowner.

I have advanced quite a bit in my career, so it's not so bad absorbing the higher fuel costs at this point.

My wife likes the JSW better, but doesn't trust VW to support the cars in the future.
We decided on the van since we are close to retirement and want something that we can stuff children and grandkids in to go to movies and dinner etc.
We also were looking for something that would tow our 16' Scamp trailer and the "Stow and Go" seating that lets me put in the occasional 4 X 8 foot plywood or sheetrock panel.
Also while the van might not last as long as the JSW there are more people who can fix the thing and the cost MIGHT not be as astronomical as some of the VW GOTCHAS.

I think you'll do just fine with that move. People like to bag on American vehicles, but those Chrysler minivans hold up pretty well. And yeah...repair cost is one reason that I'm looking to go to a domestic vehicle.

2013 JSW here also (6M TDI). VW indicates > $24,000 buyback. I have another (German) car. Beautiful little MB coupe (but it ain't no JSW).

Not sure what to do (but pleased at the two year decision window orchestrated by - among others - Ken Feinberg/VW)

I'll probably have to fill mine this weekend as I'm finally down to about a third of a tank (estimated gas range at 130 miles). It's been a month since my last fill-up and I've driven 675 miles so far.

My tank shows half full and I am at over 500 miles. Mind you, the last several weeks have been "special" in that my weekly or 2xweekly trip to Orem (75 miles round trip) I have been doing in the JSW (otherwise parked). Audi for everything else.

Depends. If you buy new or close to new, it could be smart since you'll probably get a really good rate. Then you just put what VW gives you against the loan. No need to refinance.

Typically the loan payment will not go down. You would just shorten the payback time. If you want to lower the payment, then you would probably have to refi.

As was mentioned, typically your payments don't change but the term is shortened -- you have few payments.

IF you want a lower payment after you apply the payback money, go to your local credit union or bank and refinance it (depending on what your interest rate is etc). Then you could arrange it so the term is about what you have left but with a lower payment.

When you jam the pedal down and have ICE and EV at the same time it is pretty good. Not quite TDI but it moves. Drains battery fast to do that a lot though. ICE alone or EV alone not that much but it gets the job done.

I have no problem cruising at 80-90 with the 1.4 and also at normal HWY speeds (60-80) no issues at all passing at all.

I drive with a really light foot when in EV mode. Need to get every mile out of the car. LOL I did the same when the JSW was new. With the JSW that did not last long...

Some banks will re-amortize your loan on request if you make a large payment. I don't know how common it is, but USAA has said they'll do it. That would result in reduced payments for the remaining term of the loan. I don't see any reason that it isn't a more common thing, but it's apparently far from universal.

So, filled up today after 751 miles, adding 7.9 gallons. That comes to 95mpg for the tank.

I figure a week of electricity is about $4 for me, so that comes to $16 for electricity. Gas was $2.60 a gallon, so that would be the equivalent of 14 gallons total for 751 miles. That's around 53 MPGe. I'll take that. Best tank I ever got on my JSW was 38mpg.

Buying a 2015 Jetta TDI

A dealership in Arlington has agreed to put my name on a '15 TDI and will buy my '10 TDI with an extra $500 in dealer credit depending on what my figure is. If I have done my calculations correctly, should be about $11,500 and I owe $8,000.

The 2015 they're selling had hail damage, all repaired by them in house, and will be $10,500 off of MSRP. I can't wait! I've never had a car with less than 1,000 miles, this one has about 355.

Nice thing about the Alltrack is it has the built in AC plug, I use mine in my '10 Jetta to charge my drone batteries between jobs. The new ones don't have it anymore, only the Toureg and Alltrack I believe. Maybe a top of the line Golf Sportwagen?

Just took home a lexus certified 2012 Lexus CT 200h with <34,850 miles. Got a free 2 year unlimited miles bumper to bumper warranty, new tires, new floor mats, and free carwash for life. It takes regular gas, has a sport suspension (unlike the Prius), and also has a power mode. It cost me $17,995. So when ibgetu check I'll pay off the loan.

I agree, that's a great deal. If I could find a GSW for that, I might consider it.

I called up USAA six years ago when I was going through a divorce and they gave me a new loan with a lower rate and extended term and gave me two months of non-payments to start off. They seem pretty flexible.
