Hi all, having an issue with my mk5 golf.

The handbrake light is flashing and beeping, I’ve checked brake fluid and all is ok! Any ideas?

One thought: there's a microswitch and plunger build into the centre console that detect if the handbrake is back in the off position... if it malfunctions the car will think the handbrake is still on and yell at you as you try to drive away.

I wouldn't think the hand brake would make that racket. Must be the brake system. Reading the codes should give a clue. Could be brake pedal switch, hydraulics, maybe even bulbs.

It does, once you try to drive away. :) Next time you start out, pull the parking brake up just enough to turn on the light and motor on. 15-20 seconds later beep beep beep. :)
