I got a 2010 with air suspension that needed a new turbo actuator and some back-maintenance. My first diesel ever. Now that I got it running with no codes, I notice that it has the dreaded extreme lag from a stop plus really crappy fuel mileage. The behavior is really awful from a standing start or slow turn. There is ZERO power until 2500 RPM, then ZOOOOOM!!!! it takes off with full boost and ALWAYS slam shifts into 2nd at the same time. It's practically undrivable until you get it on the freeway, where it hauls serious butt :p

Anyway, though, the "fix" has ruined this particular car. I have read that some of the tune's such as Malone don't actually fix this and so I want to totally revert back to pre fix ECU and TCU. I have been a tech for 20+ years and have no problem getting weird gadgets from China or wherever. Not interested in deletes and tunes right now FOR SEVERAL REASONS. Right now I want to totally revert to pre-fix software.

Can anybody here point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

After some longer driving cycles, Im seeing a phantom code for EGR valve so will clean that asap. It makes a screeching noise during output test :p There was no carbon buildup in cat or dpf, just a stack of codes from leaky dpf flange (studs cut by previous shop) and seized turbo actuator. I replaced the copper injector seats due to exhaust smell but it's still there. Looks like small exh manifold leak on passenger side. The turbo got new gaskets. Also did new fuel filter, brakes, battery. Tons of cosmetic stuff.

The biggest problem with the "fix" on the Q7s in my opinion is the lag in transmission response. It's especially horrible if you have to accelerate right after coasting briefly (such as exiting a four leaf clover in heavy but moving traffic). I believe the 2010 is a 6sp ZF so there might a TCM tune available. The 2013+ Q7s have an 8sp Aisin and as far as I know, no one has been able to crack that TCM encryption. Using sport mode seems to improve the response.

All USA Q7/Touareg/Cayenne are all aisin all the time. They went from 6sp to 8sp around 2011 and yes, the transmission behavior post fix is terrible, but it might be related to the erasure of all the torque in 1st gear... who knows :p I read somewhere that you can flash a Cayenne TCM map onto the Q7 and it's slightly better. I'm having trouble getting answers on what software and interface is used for that. I might try a $100 tuning box just for laughs, but I can't find a way to fix my leaky EGR pipe for less than $1000 and that will switch off the tuning box (DTC codes switch off the extra fuel and boost) if I just plug the EGR hole :/ getting angry now. That $1000 is for a billet 2260 turbo, not some dumb pipe that should be $200 like all the other pipes.
