I too was intending to wash the car but temp is supposed to dip to minus 13 tonight. It'll be a popsicle in the morning!

Maybe I'll swing by BMW in Whitby and get some of that Gummi Phlege stuff for the doors.

None anymore
I have a set if you're quick with them. I'll be swinging by to pick up my Isotta steering wheel cover, but can't stay long. 11:00 is probably the time I'll be getting there.

There will be a couple of VagCom's to check your timing and experienced hands to adjust it if necessary. Hopefully, recourse to the hammer mod will not be necessary!

Wingnut: I love the smell of leather in the morning...see ya there with the Isotta. My seamstress has declined to attend citing more pressing domestic priorities and a wish to stay warm instead of hanging out in the freezing cold eating donuts. Go figure. /images/graemlins/confused.gif

Will anyone be at the GTG that knows how to adjust timing, aka Hammer mod? I'm retarded!

Thanks a lot guys

[/ QUOTE ]

The hammer mod is not a timing adjustment, but rather a fuel quantity adjustment! Fuel quantity can be adjusted with just the Vag-com. If the adjustment needs to be done past the scope of what the ECU is capable of, the hammer mod is employed. But usually only in extreme cases where the car is way overfueling causing excessive smoke. A timing adjustment can be done mechanically if you are out of spec. It just requires the losening of three bolts & the turning of the pump in relation to the gear. But new bolts are sometimes required if the original ones are stretch bolts.

Alco, I don't think I can make this GTG again. I know I promised to buy a jug of delvac from you but I'm sick as a dog.
Sorry if I put you out in anyway. damn shouldn't have gotten this flu shot.

Yet another great GTG, although Wingnut may beg to differ after struggling with a reluctant injector for much of the day...

Nice pyrotechnics at this one.

MacGyver uses his propane torch to confirm that the injector tester machine is full of diesel and ready to rip...

Followed by a demo of injector spray pattern (don't try this at home kids)...

Looking forward to Rammstein's and Dent's action pic's! /images/graemlins/eek.gif

Sorry you were taken out by the flu, zaskar. Hope to see you at the next one. I always have a jug or two of Delvac to spare. Thanks of course to Rick...you are a gentleman sir.

Fun...wow! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I got home about an hour ago (23:30).

Everything went well, except for the car running out of fuel 300 meters from the station... /images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

I was on the access ramp and couldn't really push it all the way there.

Filled up my jug (4.00$) and made it back to the station.

No problems coming back other that this little inconvenient.

Thanks to Rick, TDIMeister and everybody who was there, a pleasure to meet all of you guys, as usual.

I'll post my pics tomorrow.

Nice shots ALCO! /images/graemlins/wink.gif

So you obviously didn't take my advice about what station to fill up at! You tried to make it to Kingston I guess?

BTW, That injector was like that from the crud that was in the hole. It got on there on its way out!

My fingers are healing nicely. I should buy stock in Band-aid next time I start a job!! Only 2 knuckles & 4 fingers dinged, I still have 6 good ones!

Here we go, my pictures and 2 movies!

When people arrived.

Working on a NB, always very tight.

A3/B4 pics: Guess where was I when I took the pictures?
Who's gonna get it right?

The cars outside, not all TDI's as you can see... /images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

The set up: do not try this at home!

The one shot that everybody wanted me to post:

That's not it, here's the movies! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Movie 1 with the BMW IDI injector.

Movie 2 with a TDI injector (SpeedR's).

I believe this is SpeedR ride, I might be wrong though. Thank for the lift to Harvey's! /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Wingnut finally got it!!!!!

It was a dirty, dirty injector... /images/graemlins/eek.gif

This is how many km I got on that tank:

4.99l/100 km
47.13 USmpg
56.61 IMPmpg

The tank is really 95 liters and not 100.

My goal for this winter is to be under the 5l/100 km.

thanks again wingnut for the injector swap! everything is running smooth and no shudder issues or smoke, except at full pedal. a bit of fuel smell in the car, likely from all that sprayed all over the engine, i washed the engine today and will look for any leaks, but i suspect it's just the spilt fuel. car pulls stronger all around and most noticable in the higher revs, thanks again wingnut, good times and merry christmas to all!

Thank you to the host. Much appreciated the opportunity to come and get a couple of problems looked at and solved.

Thanks much Nigel for the CEL clear and glow plug work, and for the MAF run.
