47 Racine Rd, Unit 10, Etobicoke, Ontario. This is in the northwest area of Toronto. Yahoo maps (or similar) can give you directions. Some will probably be there as early as 8:00, but by 9:00 for sure. Hopefully no major snow storms between Buffalo and T.O. that day!

It's the same thing for older models: my Bentley recommend to change the fuel filter every 32k on my Passat.

This is a single stage standard tester nothing fancy but it'll tell ya if your injectors are fine, or fubar...

[/ QUOTE ]

Awesome! Can't wait to see if the injectors are fubar.

Vik F last time I check oil consumption was dead on. The smoke that comes out smells like unburnt diesel similar to the puff of blue smoke ppl get when starting the car in the cold.

Zaskar,

Canadian Tire quoted a fuel filter at $43.97, P/N 23-3673-6. NAPA quoted $27.83 for P/N 3521, brand name Wicks (WIX?). Dont know if either of these are recommended by the gang on this board or not. Didnt inspect either one to even try and figure out the bezel thing.

Can Tire also stocks the inline heaters on the shelves in the store. It can be a hunt. They can cross ref the zerostart P/N 3305001 for the 1000W high limit only style heater. I paid around $58. Also got the 5/8" straight hose for the lower end of the installation from Can Tire, $1.40.

NAPA sold me the one piece moulded item written in snowman's directions. Paid about $22 for that and another $2 for some larger ID hose to wrap around as chafe protection.

It's 50/50 on whether I can get out to the meet on the 20th. Friday and Saturday are both Christmas parties, and the kids are away Friday night! If I have a good reason to spend more of Saturday morning in bed, have a good time at the meet. If I see you there, .... oh well, it wasn't Christmas after all.

Best bet to get a good one is to order one from Roseland Technical Services: http://www3.ns.sympatico.ca/roseland/

Brian is great to deal with and ships immediately. You will get it in about 3 days. Price is ~$38 + GST + S&H, so around $46-47 to your door. He also has oil, air & cabin filters too. You can buy the complete kit for around $90 Shipping inc. + GST.

Frisco, probably, but I had an issue with the rear disks that I got from there ... we think the machining was wrong in the seat area for the wheel bearings; couldn't get wheel bearings to last and they've been fine since changing out the rear rotors for OEM ...

OK zaskar, gotcha covered on the Delvac 1. I picked up two cases yesterday. Price is unchanged at $31.65 per jug incl taxes. Right now I'm holding a total of 9 jugs and 6 of them are spoken for. See ya there. /images/graemlins/cool.gif

I Agree with Brian about Frisco. I paid $22 each for rotors for my Passat. Nobody could touch their price. They warped in 3 weeks ... /images/graemlins/crazy.gif
What's your time worth? For cost / convenience I'd just pick up a set of Eurorotors from Crappy Tire. I think RSA on Dunlop street in Barrie have (or can get) Mintex pads. Performance Solutions down the street should stock them too.

Hey Wingnut,

How much Power Service do you use at each fillup? Should I use more the first time?

I use 5oz. A 96oz bottle treats 300 gal, so assuming a 15 gal fillup each time one bottle will last 20 fillups. 96/20 = 4.8oz each fillup.

If you don't wait till the tank is empty, then 4oz will do.

RickD,

Will you have some oil next weekend? I would like to reserve 2 cases please. (4x4L)

Also, do you have any powerservice left? If not, I can bring some for anyone who needs it, but only if Rick is out.

Thanks.

Zaskar you can pick up fuel filters at Frisco for about $22 a pop or so. There made by Meat & Doria or something to that effect. Don't know how good they are but they told me it meets all OEM requirements /images/graemlins/confused.gif

Nigel I'll take a jug of the powerservice. Let me know how much it is.

Ok great. I don't want to be a hog, but I would like 2 cases of the Duron. If there are others who want some, I could just take one case for now and get another next month.

I was wondering if anyone in the GTA has a compression tester. I fear the worse might be happening and I might be burning oil after all. If anyone in and around has one or knows a mechanic who know their way around TDI's please let me know. I will gladly pay someone to perform the tes ton my car. Thanks folks!

Aw crud, I just went to post I'd throw mine in the car for Sat, and remembered I lent it to my dad & won't see him till Sunday /images/graemlins/crazy.gif
He's got a 94 1.9L IDI that spit the crank pulley (now fixed better than new thanks to 'QuickTD')...and he somehow didn't damage any valves /images/graemlins/eek.gif

Anyway, I really don't think you've got compression issues with your low milage & the fact your car starts & runs great, but I can't help prove it. Still bringing the injector tester for you though!
Which reminds me, do you have a new set of copper seals for the injectors? We can anneal your old ones, but they're only $0.75/ea from the dealer IIRC...

I'll be there in the beater. Maybe you're the ones to suggest why it uses so much more gas than I know it's supposed to be using though! Or is 350km on 50L normal? /images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Speedr, I have those copper washers for you if you sti deide to pull the injectors.

Jason, I sent you an e-mail, but I was wondering if you still had some spare GP's? I have a member that needs one. Frisco wants $36 + tax for one. If you don't have any left, I will just order them from Brian Harrison for $19.90.

More like a 'stop the bleeding to the insurance company' beater, but it's a good winter beater too. A 1991 Corsica (mostly). Sort of an unsaleable vehicle too.. but it gets heat really quickly, which is nice.

Oh boy, do I ever have a fun chore for Saturday, as a result of something that cropped up today.

My car has developed a cross-circuit between the right turn signal circuit and some other circuit that's switched with the ignition. The right signal bulbs are on all the time (when the fault is occurring - it's intermittent) and the flasher does not operate on the right side. Left flashes and operates normally. Hazard flasher does not work, all the bulbs stay on all the time. I've been exploring the wiring diagrams to figure out how to troubleshoot this.

Tomorrow, if it happens, I'm going to pull fuse 17, which should indicate whether the cross-circuit involves the hazard flasher switch itself, which is what I'm hoping it is. If the right signals stay on with that fuse pulled, then the cross-circuit has to be in the wiring harness somewhere, although if that's the case, I have a prime suspect area.

Arrrrrrgh! I hate troubleshooting electrical problems. The way VW does their wiring diagrams isn't helping matters right now. If I can somehow figure out which circuit it's crossed with, it will narrow down the problem area a lot.
