Your mods will look great. I have added a pip rack and adapted my wheels to accept the old Beetle hubcaps. 16" beauty rings complete the wheel treatment. Retro is cool.

I will be doing the same thing to my wheels.
here is a photoshopped pic of my previous bug. I had not had the two-tone done yet..but the retro steelies were finished...basically I will be doing the same to this bug, except using a lighter silver for the two-tone which will not go above the line on the doors. not sure if I will be painting the mirrors tho...

I remember seeing on the news once where a cop (~2k crown vic) had t-boned a jetta. Ok, crown vic w/ police bumper has the abality to do some damage. But the Jetta, altough it was in bad shape, had prevented serious injury to its occupiants. It is very comforting to know that we drive some of the safest cars on the road /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Growler got some mods done this past weekend.

Rear brake pads replaced...
EGR mod
Timing advanced/reset back to stock, (it was previously reading like 2.2 on the vag, we advanced it 100, then wound up putting it back to stock, and it now reads ~3.2 so advancing it then dropping it seemed to improve things a bit..hmm...)
Red/Clear Euro Taillights installed
Ventectomy performed
Almost got my retro hubcaps installed but ran out of time.

You know, it might look more retro if lifted rather than dropped. Look at Oso, especially from the rear - it really looks like the ground clearance the original Type 1's had. New steel wheels will be an even truer look for Oso - thankies again!

I have even considered getting a couple of the Type 1 chrome exhaust pipes and attaching them to my trailer hitch frame - or would that be just too much? New steel wheels will be an even truer look for Oso - thankies again!

Yesterday Growler got washed with my new Mr. Clean AutoDry. (RECOMMENDED!)

So… the Mr. Clean does a good job, eh? I wonder if it would work at my house… we have unfiltered well water going to the hose… Black cars look dirtier after being washed then before /images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

ok, The rings are for sure staying. The two-tone was laid down over Easter weekend. The car will make its big debut on 4/24/2004 at Southern Volksfest in Atlanta Ga.

here is the new paint applied and the car waiting to be judged at Southern Volksfest 2004 (Atlanta GA)
1300 miles..3 days... 41mpg with the roof rack and about 800# of people/stuff inside the car...GOOD TIMES!
