We are looking for a few beta testers with 2009-2014 Jetta, Golf, and Beetle. Manual or automatic.

We have been developing a well rounded tune for the newer VW products that dramatically improves fuel economy, eliminates EGR, and improves performance and drive ability characteristics.

If interested, give us a call at 248-977-9531 or via email at support@greendieselengineering.com

Thanks,

GDE development team

I dont think GDE needs Beta testers anymore, their tune is solid. Tracking mileage now to see how good the gains are (although this first tank has seen use of the new found power!)

We still need a few testers for DSG and manual. We are looking for highway drivers or all city, folks with a good consistent drive cycle. We like to test at sea level and folks that live at high altitude.

I sent a personal message a couple of weeks back. Do Alaska drivers not qualify? :D

These tunes are a very encouraging development & welcome news for all of us mk 5/6 tdi owners who will "tough it out" w/their vehicles despite buy-backs, power & mileage sucking "fixes" from vw & even "badge embarrassment" associated with the scandal. Thanks for sticking with us GDE.
From a purely business angle, I marvel @ how many of these vehicles I see daily in southwestern Ontario just between Kitchener and London representing plenty of opportunity for GDE within a 2 1/2-3 hour drive of Wixom Michigan. I will admit, however, that if you bring Mike in Anchorage into the fold you will have the ultimate endorsement a la "I drove all the way from Alaska to get this tune..." lol.

Do you need a 2011 Golf 4D, in Maryland (sea level) near Baltimore, with a nice mix of flat out freeway driving, mixed with stop and go city driving, roughly a 50/50 split?

Email sent

Just received email confirmation that the package has already shipped. This is going to be a fun project.

I'd have to get the OK from the wife for such a wonderful road trip. any ideas on how to convince her to allow me the time to do that? The last time I drove the highway to the Lower 48 was in 1993, so I'm probably due for an update. ;)

It was posted on 4/20/16 so I'm sure there still looking for testers for 09-14 as posted
Sorry for the confusion. I meant it to mean that the tune is great and lives up to what I was expecting, hence my joke that no more testers were needed :p

We have had very good response for beta testers and do not need anymore DSG equipped vehicles at this time. We do still need 3-4 manual trans TDIs. Thanks GDE

Keith, the TDI club's motto @ the top of the page reads "economy, longevity, performance." Can you enlighten us on what benefits may exist regarding longevity as the other descriptors are already becoming evident? Your tuning philosophy in your homepage alludes to this but for those who haven't made it there yet, it might help those considering the tune.

The longevity aspect comes into play in several areas. EGR is off, so no more soot entering the intake with the high pressure egr loop. Low pressure egr is also off, so no more condensation going through turbo inlet and less risk of intercooler icing. The combustion parameters are changed to reduce soot formation. This helps to reduce the soot in the engine oil and the oil will remain cleaner, longer. Soot is abrasive and minimizing it in the oil improves bearing life. Also, less soot means it takes longer to accumulate in the diesel particulate filter and we do not need to regen nearly as often. Regen frequency is reduced from every 125miles to the 450-650mile range depending on drive cycle. This reduces the thermal cycling stresses on the exhaust system and it will reduce the oil dilution. When a regen is active there is post injection of fuel on the exhaust stroke and a portion of this gets past the rings into the oil, minimize the regens and you minimize the oil dilution.

We cannot pump out tunes for every diesel application quickly. The VW took us over a year in testing, but our tuning has specific goals and a purpose besides just power/torque.

Thanks, GDE

This is good engineering. Especially the lower soot formation and hence regeneration of the DPF. Thanks for the info.

I'm with you Mike in Anchorage. less soot clogging, scarring, oil dilution, fewer regens so less temp stress & less risk of intercooler icing all sounds pretty good for the long haul. I mentioned GDE to my brother in law who has an ecodiesel pickup after he voiced concerns over erratic regens. he has a 200km+ roundtrip everyday which makes him a good fit for this tune re:mileage. judging by the testimonials i read, the increased torque/power doesn't hurt too much either!
