Got a CEL on a 2000 mile road trip

I have a 2016 TDI Touraeg with 25,000 miles, had it serviced before this trip of 2000 miles. First fill up left the station and car threw engine light. Called the dealer who did the servicing and he said it's probably a loose fuel cap. Re checked the cap and went on my way. Light never reset. I'm no mans land and the car is running great and ended doing the final 1500 miles with the light on, no issues at all with the engine. It goes in to the dealer tomorrow to check what's if anything is going on. Anyone else have a similar issue. Very distressing to drive with the damm engine light on. Thanks I'm just glad to to have a break down,but the car makes me nervous now.

Hard to say without the codes it set. Get them and post back.

Loose gas cap CEL is a gasser thing... as above, no way to know what's going on without the codes.

Circling back ,had the car to the dealer. Found no faults,reset engine light . They said if it comes back on they will dig deeper,but don't want to start to do anything now, no charge for the quick check. Nice surprise. Should know in the next few days if there is a further issue.

lol thats terrible service, clearly emission issue and they dont want to do it, engine light doesnt come on and stay on for fun. there is a reason and a code stored. Unreal

For this reason picked up a Carista and/or OBDEleven for reading VW codes....

What did you paperwork say when you picked up your vehicle? It would have noted the codes they found and cleared.
