I was in an accident yesterday evening with my 99.5 golf. I have had her for nearly 11 years, put about 258,000 miles on her bringing her total to 470,000. Multiple cross county trips and countless adventures. Quite possibly the best car ever.

She is totaled. Ill try to post a picture but the front end is completely smashed. She is siting in my driveway now. I know this isn't the for sale thread, ill probably post there too, but does anyone want her for parts or scrap. I don't want to look at her like this, Im in west michigan

Also, Im looking for another TDI now, Im a die hard fan of the ALH but I'm sure there are some pros to the knewer ones, what are the pros and cons to 2008+ to an ALH. Thanks

We got a 2014 dieselgate JSW with 40k miles. Shiny and clean, but not the same as the ALH.

Sorry to hear about another one gone, especially a '99.5. But it protected you in the end, which is what VWs do.

My .02 is to get another ALH. Kirk Blackmore may be able to help you find one. The new cars are nice, I think MKIV ALHs are the best.

I also got a 2014 JSW Diesel Gate CPO.
Was not cheap but I love it.
Less MPG but more power.
It does seem ride smoother to me.

After the 2 year warranty is over I was thinking about getting it programed for more MPG and a DSG update.

Still have to swap my Kenwood multi-media radio into it.

I owned a 2010 Jetta TDI Sport Wagon. I never got more than 39 MPG, no matter how carefully I drove it. The engine, and emissions system .PDF, looks like something out of NASA. I crashed the car less than two years after I bought it, in 2015. I bought a 2002 Jetta to replace it. I never looked back. I don't recommend HPFP/particulate filter TDI's to anyone. If the fuel pump grenades, (and they do) you're in for a five grand ride to the Stealership. Some people love those cars. Not me. I wish that I had the car for the buyback, because it would've been out of the garage in a blink.

So I got my New 99.5 golf home, and am swapping a few parts over. My new golf has 330,000 miles on it already. Im trying to think of any parts I might need off my old one before I sell it for scrap. I don't like to keep parts laying around all that much but if it will most likely save me $500 in the future I would. Would it be worth it for me to Pull the Head off my old golfs engine, to have as a core to have rebuilt for a quick swap when the time comes for the newer one to need head work done? anything else you can think of I might want in the future?
