Well, never wanted to have to do this, but my Passat lost a battle with the rear end of a Flat Bed. Punched the hood back a good 8", but because of the height, it missed the metal bumper entirely.
Haven't tried to start it, since not sure if the timing belt/cover is intact, because the hood is still locked in despite being smooshed in.
I think there is a lot salvageable, no damage beyond the front end, rads, cosmetic bumper, probably broke the engine mounts, as the shifter got pushed back also (6 speed). Front quarter panels are unfazed.
Would like to fix it if possible, once I get the settlement from the insurance.
Looking for a mechanic in the San Antonio area who is competent in rebuilding and working around a B5.5.
(I looked into building a new one, but it seems a lot of the parts are now unobtainium from Frans the last I checked.)
