none!
After a week of enduring speed-related howling coming from the left front of the car, I took the car into Serramonte VW to get checked out.

Left front wheel bearing had to be replaced. 5100 miles.

For the record, the guys at Serramonte VW are great. Thanks Oscar! You too, Zach!

these things happen and it was probably a part defect. glad there was no hassle and you got it fixed

Glad everything went ok, also I appreciate your positive attitude!

No manufacturing process is perfect... .00001% of the greatest part in the world will fail.

hmm.... I thought mine sounded a bit off. I need to jack it up and give it a spin.

might not be able to hear just by spinning it. its easier to hear when your driving and you can cut the wheel slightly to unload some weight of a side. this will reduce or eliminate the noise just long enough to hear what side its coming from. usually if the sound doesnt change with an unload like that, it might not be a wheel bearing.
