Hi Everyone

I have a fault on my car (P1592 boost pressure sensor correlation error) which it would seem is a common fault.

Reading off the live data:

Target pressure 979mbar
Actual pressure 1051 mbar
Engine is off and ignition on

The fault is static and as you turn the ignition on (engine not running) it brings up this fault and if you start the car, it’s in limp mode. I have cleaned and checked all grounds in the engine bay, replaced the MAP sensor (G31) and still no change. I changed the MAF as well just in case this could also be the cause and still the same. I checked for any water inside the engine wiring loom and it’s bone dry.

Weird thing is, I can start the car up, clear the fault code and the car will drive fine until I switch it off and turn it back on, then the fault is back and car is back in limp mode.

The only thing left that I can think of is to re-wire the boost pressure sensor all the way back to ECU which is a huge headache.

Has anyone got an idea what this could be?

Hi Mate

The new boost pressure sensor part number is 03K 906 051which is a OEM 4 bar map sensor. I swapped the sensor round for a stock one and reading is the same so it cannot be a sensor at fault.

I will go round to my garage where my car is and look for the ECU number and let you know.

Thanks!!

That was exactly the reason why I asked for the sensor. Surely you have only installed a 300kpa sensor series. Then you can't simply install a 400kpa sensor without implementing it in the software. Does the old sensor have the same number?

Ok, does make sense. The guy that put a stage 2 map on the car said I needed that 400KPA sensor, but I doubt it was coded in.

does it need coding in to make it correlate?

The old sensor is a 300KPA sensor (Bosch) that I got. But the car has already been mapped, and not sure if anything has been altered in the map.
But this fault even accrues when the engine has not even started so I doubt it’s map related. It’s could be that the 400KPA sensor is not coded in

The 400kpa sensor has different voltage values. The error occurs as soon as the ignition is switched on. Your measurement result is incorrect in the background, but is sufficient to prevent a further error. You need a new 300kpa sensor or the software adjustment to 400kpa. What kind of car/engine is it?

Thanks for this Mate. I swapped a 300KPA sensor and fault cleared now. It’s reading actual 1010mbar and target is 979mbar so now it’s within spec to not being the code back.

I will have a new mapper sort it and have the 400KPA sensor scaled in correctly. All this faffing about due to this mappy chappy not knowing to scale the sensor in!!

Many thanks to everyone :)
