Golf 2001 GLS TDI headlights project

Hello,
I have new project on go. On my Jetta 2001 TDI when I apply
parking break, daylight headlights go off, but on the Golf, that
is not case, staying on all time. How difficult will be to make
Golf head lights to go off, when parking brake is engaged.
Can this be done?

Does the red parking brake warning lamp in the cluster come on when you set the brake? If not, there may be an issue with the switch in the console.

Yes, red parking brake warning lamp came on, but
headlights stay on all time. I like to make this to
work on way how Jetta have setup up, parking brake
on, headlights off.
Any suggestion how to do that?

Yes. Find the problem and fix it, since that is how it is supposed to work anyway. I cannot recall if there is a DRL relay on that model or not, pretty sure there is.

Sorry I may not be much help, I am usually trying to figure out how to make the DRLs go away altogether and make the car behave like a normal car with a normal headlamp switch.

Look in the relay box and see if you hear something clicking when you release the brake.

It's possible someone customized the wiring, keep an out for that.

Hello,
I found another Golf same year like mine and have
same problem. Looks like it is one batch of Golfs,
what don't have relay for turning headlights off when
parking break is engaged. I will try find wiring schematic
for Jetta 2001 and compare with Golf.
