My beetle outgasses and glazes the windshield on the inside pretty quickly. Takes about a month but then the car's a pain to drive into the sun or at night into bright lights. I tried Sprayaway and that seemed worse than Windex. Used Windex today, and even using another dry cloth afterwards, still I had smearing when I drove into the rising sun today.

What do you guys use that works?

I've had pretty good luck with good old fashioned Windex and paper towels ....

I've have even better results with Invisible glass (stonercarcare.com) ... I think I bought it from Wal Mart or Advance Auto (seems to streak less than Windex plus it advertises tint safe but I have not tried it on tint yet).

PS- I think outgassing is what happens when vinyl (and maybe other things) is exposed to heat .... basically it "boils" out chemicals from the plastic or vinyl etc and that makes the "film" that forms on the window or other surfaces (it;s just easier to see on the window).

It's almost like smoking cigarettes indoors and the painted walls in you house becomes discolored ( smoking is obviously easier to see than the relatively invisible "outgassing" that ultimately leaves a film over time on windows tho).

Hope that helps

Exactly this. All the decomposing plastic inside the car.

What do you mean by "outgasses"? what is causing this?

My Golf gets really filmy on the inside after a month. The only thing that i found was to squeegee it really wet. otherwise it just smears.
I didn't think of that! (using a squeegee). I think that would work well even with Windex as it's pulling all the dissolved crud over to the side. I'll see if I can buy a small, slim squeege somewhere. Also will give Invisible Glass a try and yeah, I see it's sold at Walmart (cheaper than Amazon)

I bought a squeegee after attempting 5 times to wash it off with various types of window cleaners. I dont like washing windows.

I spray, then wipe with towel, the spray a little more, then squeegee. it gets all over the dash, so do the rest of detailing after.

Nobody mentioned yet that only ammonia free glass cleaner should be used, to avoid damaging the tint?
