General Checkup Items - 50,000 miles

I just bought an 02 Jetta TDI with 47000 miles. I'm sending it in tomorrow for some maintenence. Does anyone have anything else I should have them check while it's in.

Power Steering whine
Radio buttons
Backup Lights not working
Rattle in back door
Squealing Serpantine belt
Lube suspension joints
Check Brakes
Tranny fluid ? (auto tranny)
Water Seperator
Fuel filter? (gas mileage should be better)

I'm not sure if there are any other general items I should have them check - any more ideas?

I have 47 on my 2003 with none of those problems.

You're sending this all in on factory warranty repair?

It's all factory warranty. I have 47000 on it, and since it was supposed to be VW certified, it gets a 3/36000 on top of the 50000 warranty it comes from VW with. They just missed some things when certifyiong it, so it's all free fixes - I'm not worried about it. It was $15000.

A 2002 TDI should have the brake fluid changed. It's been over 24 months.

The "suspension joints" could mean the strut mounts. They tend to squeak quite a bit, starting at about the age of your car. See if you can get those replaced under warranty (grin). Or wait to see if you want to upgrade to better shocks/struts.

Oil changes every 10k miles. Was this just performed? Air filter every 10k miles. Was this replaced at 40k? Cabin filter every 20k miles. Was this replaced at 20k miles?

See if you can get them to go over the entire 40k maintenance to-do list on the owner's manual. That's a pretty extensive list.
