The closest analogy I can think of is a drug company promoting a drug (say, for cancer) that subverted the FDA certification process, then later admitting the drug doesn't treat cancer but instead exacerbates it.
Very good analogy.

While I love driving my 3.0 TDI every day and believe it is the best car I have ever owned, I am hoping for a buyback rather than a fix. I couldn't give 2 sh*ts about how it affects VAG. Show me the money. Got my eye on a 2018 GT3.

Nice! I've driven a 991.1 GT3 and am driving a GT3RS at the Porsche Experience Center next month; I'm sure the replacement will be even better (with a huge dealer mark-up and almost no availability).

I'm really tempted to get something completely silly if a buyback occurs (McLaren 570S, 599GTB, 458, etc), but I think my wife might kill me if I spent more on a car than we put down on our house, so will probably end up with something fun, but much less expensive (Alfa 4C, older V8 Vantage, etc.).

I guess it is really Judgement Day 2.2 SUV.
I know my model's day is not until December, but I am under the impression that with the lack of news the fix is becoming less likely.
I know there is a select few that I might be able sell my rare and pristine A7 Tdi to, but the $11,500 settlement from both VW and Bosch is really leaving a sour taste in my mouth. I almost feel they are trying to wait us out. The longer they drag this out the more owners will settle and move on. One of the reasons I bought my Tdi is that with my past ones the premium that I paid I was able to recoup with the added resale value. VW has taken that value away, Oh, and BTW they could saddle my car with performance robbing modifications as an added bonus!
I have followed this thread closely. Whether its the hardcore owners or the ones that bought up all the Tdi's they could find your input has been greatly appreciated.
For those of you who haven't I suggest you read Faster, Higher, Farther: The Volkswagen Scandal. I can't attest to the fact it is totally impartial, but you would have a hard time defending VW and not looking for the greatest recompense

They are most definitely trying to slow walk the process. That has been their main and really only strategy from the time it all began.

I hope this is the case. I put a deposit on my vehicle the day it went up for sale on cars.com however it was up there for a good 2.5 weeks before I went down to pick it up and subsequently the listing removed. Hopefully it was just others running the VIN and the actual owner did not step up. I mean, why would they now of all times, since this has been known (possibly not by them) for a long time.
Hopefully still get the full 8200 and change, just would be nice to get the half of it now upfront..
Same thing happened to me. Bought my car 6/12 filed all the paperwork immediately. Was stuck on step 15 forever. Finally got apt for fix 8/9/2017
They told me something along the same lines. My case has been sitting on step 15 for more than two months. They told me, it will move forward once the fix is available. I bought the vehicle in 08/2017 and I suspect many people entered this VIN to check restitution amount.
Now, there's probably a lot of claims on my vehicle and instead of spending time on clarifying who actually owns the car, VW prefer to wait and see who physically shows up with the car at the dealership.
Just spoke with an agent as its been almost a month since i filed for the fix. When submitting, the amount was approx $8200.
The agent said there was an issue with my eligibility: there was a previous owner associated with the car, and extra steps are needed to verify my documentation. I have to wait for the repair to be approved to move forward with my claim.
Said if there is a handraiser (previous owner) then I would get half.
I dont understand why I have to wait for fix to be approved when clearly people have bought second hand and get the approx $4k shortly after filing...
Said he cant discuss anybody else claim status with me, so I dont know if the PO decided to wake up a month after trading it in, and wanted to file after I already filed?

Basically just said to sit tight and wait for more developments..
Same thing has happened to me. Had an approved offer of $8400 but didn't have the paperwork completed with both owners on it (Wife and I) and had to resubmit. Offer went to $4200. Vehicle purchased on 7/6/2017 and sat for a month in Texas before I could get to it.

Of course, VW can't discuss particulars. Something fishy perhaps?

Yes, sad.

I woke up at 3 AM this morning, first thing that popped into my head was...well, I wonder if there has been a VW announcement yet.

For the record, it's almost 5 PM in Germany. Tick tock, tick tock!!!

I see that the judge doesn't even have VW scheduled today in fact his schedule says he is taking today off so I really expect to hear nothing now. The next time he has VW on the court roster is November 8th so I'm betting we do not hear anything till then.

I assume the decision to approve/reject will come from the EPA and CARB, and this response goes to VW. Will it be the EPA/CARB to inform the public of the decision? VW? The Court?

Correct, the Judge won't make the announcement.

I can imagine CARB or EPA announcing the rejection of a proposed fix when they reject it, but I don't look for them to announce "we haven't yet approved a fix" just because the deadline in the settlement has arrived. It's up to the court to decide whether or not more time will be allowed if the deadline was not met. I don't know what communications might be flowing between the parties, or if any of it will make today's news.

You’re right. But the court already decided. They have 90 days. And for each 30 they pay $500. They may pass each deadline, already given permission.

I agree the EPA/ CARB has to approve or deny the fix but it will be up to the court whether there are extensions or buy backs if the EPA/CARB doesn't approve a fix. If the EPA/CARB approves a fix we may hear that from them today.

we can now close this thread LOL
Haha. And replace it with a "the fix caused my car to have _______ problem."

As bummed as I am they got the fix I still love the car. Hopefully I feel that way after the fix is done and life moves on.

Will be interesting to see what happens with resale value on the car as the dealers implement the fix on their inventory in suspension and attempt to move them into the market.

In other news I'm really glad I didn't "carbitrage" that 14 Cayenne I was looking at a few weeks ago. You win some, you lose some.

Not sure you understand the word speculation.

It will be interesting to see if anyone will post their Post 3.0 Fix speculation results. I will!

Excellent work, has anyone noticed what is missing from this approval.......
Gen 2 PC!
GEN 2 PC fix plan was submitted 6 weeks later. It could be interpreted as CARB/EPA needing more time doing the test.

Yes.

To obtain these approvals, the companies submitted test data and technical information to EPA and CARB demonstrating that the fixes bring emissions into compliance with the standards to which the vehicles were originally certified, without negative impacts to vehicle reliability or durability. With these approvals, the companies can begin to offer fixes to customers. VW, Audi, and Porsche will highlight for customers differences in vehicle attributes that would be anticipated from these fixes.

What about 2013 and 2014 Audi Q7? These were not included in the list?

Thanks. This confirms that the approval is for the Emissions Compliant Repair.
Hi,

What about 2013 and 2014 Audi Q7? Did they approve a fix for them, because on the EPA website, I only see these models in the announcement for approved fixes:

Vehicle Models Fix Description
Generation 2.1
SUVs VW Touareg (Model Year 2013-2014)
Porsche Cayenne (Model Year 2013-2014)
Audi Q7 (Model Year 2015) Software update plus
hardware modification.
Generation 2.2
SUVs VW Touareg (Model Year 2015-2016)
Porsche Cayenne (Model Year 2015-2016) Software update only.

I assume we will find out more by Nov 8th?
