I'm posting to see if there is any interest in getting a group buy together to purchase the Audi A3 Strut Bar.

Here are some pictures:

Don't have pricing yet, but hopefully it'll be close to what the Audi TT's bar costs which is $86 USD. At least that's what I'm hoping for

Dan Grayson from Hillside Imports in Oregon would be the vendor. These would come from Germany and not via the UK so the price should be less.

Please post if you're interested.

Included would be the correct (6) bolts needed to install these.

PS As soon as we gauge interest, it'll help determine the final pricing.

Oh and most important: I'm not getting anything in return for posting this information and I'm not running the group buy.

Just trying to get a good price on the bar.

Dan would field calls, email, payment, etc, etc.

Lito,

Perhaps he means American made bars (Neuspeed, etc.)?

Is mounting hardware included as part of the GB? I was intrigued by the 'self locking' nut (or was it bolt) description in the other thread.

Al,

Still working on getting everything together including the bolts. Will keep you informed. If they are indeed the correct bolts, I'm sure Dan can get you some.

I'm sorry that I don't have all the details, I mainly wanted to see if people were interested.

I'd be curious to see what Shine has to say about the need for a strut bar. Obviously it does something if the factory chose to use it, but some opinions would be nice.

I'm interested if it looks like a wise upgrade.

I'd be in! I'm not sure as to the effectiveness of this mod, but it can't hurt. I figure with a full suspension set up the chassis will be well complemented.

Well,

Here's the deal. We can still get the Audi bar, but having looked at the design of the Autotech bar it looks like a better design.

The Autotech bar can be removed where the Audi bar cannot. The reason this is a concern of mine is that the OEM wiring chase looks like it might be affected by the location of the Audi bar.

I am recommending that everyone buy this bar from Komet155. His prices and professionalism can't be beat

I am not going to buy this bar for myself but will be purchasing the Autotech bar for the reasons I mentioned in my last post.

good luck!

Check out the Autotech bar made for this car. Works just like the A3 BUT easy to remove 2 bolts if needed. I would get 2 extra mounting bolts as they only sent 3 per side and it is drilled for 6. Very easy to install. Hopefully i will get pictures posted tomorrow (without the extra bolts) I plan on putting the extra bolts on because i hit the roads hard and my driveway is a mile of potholes and gravel. 99$ Best buy for your money INHO>

Dan,

That's Jerry's car. I haven't bought it yet. There is this little digital gauge that got ahead of the line

Lito

PS. I know that Jerry did notice the stiffer front end. Others have reported a stiffer ride with just the addition of the Steel Skid Plate.

I had hard 40,000 miles on my car going in and out a bad pot holed gravel road when i put mine on. There is some better, tighter handling with it inplace. You can tell the strut towers flex as the mounting had lifted slightly where there was not a bolt. Thats why i said to order extra bolts and really put it on tight.
