No one but VW will know this. I doubt they could tell anyway unless you grossly overdosed or used some non off the shelf "additive".

My letter also includes a reimbursement form for any expenses incurred before the policy change. Any idea if this letter would go to former owners who have since sold their VW?

Hi guys, so today was the day, out for a short drive in the blazing LA Sun and the car just died (picking up lunch - mind you). So once i saw the glow plug light, i knew it was the HPFP that died. Had AAA tow it to VW of Santa Monica, where my service adviser let me know same thing happened to his Jetta (great). So, because they have to order a fuel test kit, to find that there is no gas in the the fuel tank, the whole process will take 2 weeks, argh...

I hope and guess you are under 120,000 miles. The warranty extension covers 2009 to 2012 so at least VW may cover depending on that fuel kit test which will determine if the fuel in the tank is "contaminated" or "uncontaminated" in VWs words.
Hope everything turns out okay. VW warranty extension and service actions are nothing new to VW diesel owners. It's the 4th one in 3 years of TDI ownership for me. Since it's at VW have them perform Service Action 20T8/W9-Install Misfueling Guard.
And, have VW check your Engine Exhaust Flap which covers 2009 to 2012 TDIs

Jeta Life: All good advice, but for Jetta/Golf TDIs. *zepman is driving a 2012 Passat, no warranty extension (yet? not likely, it's a different HPFP), also, he probably already has a misfuel guard.

Oh sorry about that Zepman and thanks tdiatlast I was unaware the Passat TDI's HPFP is a different type, my bad.
