Ahhh Mr. Newbie been mentioned ad nausium. Do one... submit a proposal. Then watch as you get criticized for trying things. It is so easy to tear down but so difficult to build.

The dates are flexible. Labor Day has been used because of the recent spate of fests close to the Canadian/American border. Labour Day is a three day holiday on both sides.
A fest proposal for a site nearer the Mexican/American border might want to consider a set of dates that coincide with holidays on both sides of that border. (Are there any TDI in Mexico? I have never seen even one.)

You want a fest somewhere of your choosing? Submit a proposal. May your dream not become your nightmare.

There are some in Mexico, though not many - I see them from time to time in Monterrey. They are not sold there yet - however I understand from one of our engineers down there that they will be offering one soon - either a Jetta (an A4 which they still sell there) or a Bora (an A5).

This 'California Dreamin' thread goes on and on...

...but there has only been one serious post on the next 'Future TDIFest' in the appropriate thread: http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=151010

It's time to get serious, folks. It takes a nearly a year of work to plan one Fest.

It's time to take all your ideas and suggestions back to your local areas and see what kind of support you can get for holding the Fest in the area of your choice.

Remember - no matter what location you pick, it will never fly without a dedicated team to pull it off.

I'd be willing to commit to helping run one here in the Kansas area... I dunno if I want to be the leader, but I would be willing to put in considerable time and effort.

I am out here visitng Kansas City this weekend. I think it is a great place for the Fest. Can't get too much more central than this (at least for the lower 48). I think you need to pressure together a team and submit a proposal!
