I'm not savvy with car maintenance in general, hence my question.
Let's say I buy a 2012 Jetta TDI (a BB that's back on the market) and I get the extended warranty of 54,000 miles (or 4yrs 6mos). I know that the 2012's have problems with the fuel pump failing/going bad as it gets closer to 90K miles (maybe sooner?) and VW is aware of this because this problem was fixed in 2013-2015 cars. Fwiw, the fuel system is covered under this extended warranty.
Knowing my driving habits, it's likely that the extended warranty would expire before this problem were to pop up. With this in mind, could I get the dealer to fix this "problem" on my 2012 Jetta before it goes bad and before the warranty expires? (I'm not aware of any official recalls regarding this but since VW is aware of this "problem", wouldn't they be inclined to fix it?)
If not, any idea what the cost of repair would be for such a job? I hear it's pretty high but I have no idea how much.
